Ben was on hand to help Marianne and Paul find a holiday home they could enjoy with their young daughter and son as the first instalment of A Place in the Sun got underway this week. The couple were interested in finding a property in the Mar Menor region of Spain and wanted it to be based in a complex or resort environment. The presenter of the Channel 4 programme got the search off to a flying start, though one of the guests was being particularly choosy when examining the first accommodation on offer.

The ground floor apartment had two bedrooms and was just under their budget of £80,000 at a price of £74,996, with the couple seemingly over the moon with the property.

As they ventured around the establishment with Ben, the presenter asked them what their first impressions were.

Looking at the bedrooms, in particular, Marianne said they were “fine” but explained they “weren’t as big” as the couple had back home.

Jokingly taking offence at the remark, the host hit back: “Blimey, it’s a holiday home, Mrs Greedy,” with the homeowners nervously laughing.

However, Paul added the bedrooms were a “good size” and “couldn’t fault” the property at all, but Ben had more to show.
