Alison Hammond can feel her late mums presence when she hosts This Morning
This Morning co-host Alison Hammond can still feel her late mum's "presence" when she is presenting the show.
The former Big Brother star's mother Maria tragically died from liver and lung cancer last year.
But Alison, 46, thinks her mum played a big part in her landing a co-hosting role on the ITV show alongside Dermot O’Leary, and feels she is still "guiding" her life from beyond the grave.
She said: "It feels like my mum is still looking out for me in a strange way.
"It’s so bittersweet to know this has happened and she’s not here to see it.
"Having said that, I do still feel her presence.

"I do think she is still guiding me and she’s helping with all these good things that are happening, I do believe that.
"She loved my showbiz world. She used to love coming along with me to certain events and meeting celebrities, she was always in her element doing that."
Alison’s mum used to enjoy watching This Morning, and the star feels she is living her mum’s "dream" by presenting the programme every Friday.

Speaking to My Weekly magazine, she added: "She really did love everything about This Morning.
"When I was younger she’d be the one getting out all the old video tapes showing everyone.
"My poor family and friends that came to visit were made to watch them again and again.
"She was my number one fan and was always mega proud of me.
"In a way I’m living my mum’s dream."

Alison has been presenting on Fridays with Dermot for a while now, but she made a relatable blunder earlier this month.
She turned up for work on July 9 when Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were rota'd in for their last show until September.
They got Alison on the show anyway, to wave some flags in the garden and join in on the phone-in.
That didn't stop Alison turning up for work though, much to Phil and Holly's amusement. They got Alison on the show anyway, to wave some flags in the garden and join in on the phone-in.
"I totally forgot that I'm not on today, am I? I just naturally came in because it's Friday," Alison said.
"It's so good that you two are doing the last day, I can just chill!"
Alison is releasing her autobiography You’ve Got To Laugh in October.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
