GB News chairman and host Andrew Neil has been absent from his primetime show since he declared was taking a break from the news channel, just two weeks after its launch. However, GB News has now confirmed that Neil has now quit the show.

In a statement, the network confirmed Neil had left his role as chairman and presenter on the channel.

However, it did state the former BBC man would continue to contribute as a guest in the future.

“Our Chairman and Presenter Andrew Neil has stepped down from his roles at GB News and will instead appear as a regular guest commentator on our shows,” a brief Twitter statement read.

Neil was also quoted as saying: “I am sorry to go but I have concluded it’s time to reduce my commitments.”

He continued: “I wish GB News well in continuing to fulfil its founding promise and mission to reach audiences currently underserved by existing news broadcasters.”
