Dan Walker, 44, is currently taking part in Strictly Come Dancing while continuing with his hosting duties on BBC Breakfast. Monday’s show saw Dan and fellow presenter Sally Nugent discussing the BBC competition with each other as well as with former contestant Jamie Laing. Viewers watching took to social media to criticise the Stricly-heavy discussions.

“#BBCBreakfast How many times can we link back to ‘Strictly’?” Sorel Arrow asked.

Simon Alcock wrote: “Shut up talking about f***ing Strictly.

“Pretty sure that there is some news out there……somewhere….how about reporting it on the BBC’s dedicated news channel #BBCBreakfast.”

Euan McJock asked: “Hands up who tunes in to BBC “News” at 06:00 to hear the latest about some exhibitionists prancing about on Strictly? #BBCBreakfast.”

“#bbcbreakfast Why are they discussing Strictly Come Dancing?” Auld Bryan shared.

Dan is taking part in the popular series alongside professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.

Discussing his new show and book, reality TV star Jamie Laing appeared opposite Dan on the BBC Breakfast sofa.

Having taken part in Strictly Come Dancing himself last year and made it to the finals, the 32-year-old was keen to reminisce about his time on the show with current contestant Dan.

“We enjoyed watching you last year,” the broadcaster mentioned. “You were one of the real stars of the programme-“

Jamie cut in, adding: “Can I just say, you are unbelievable – you are so good on it.”

“I’m enjoying it,” the journalist responded as Sally joked: “Don’t tell him that, stop it!”

Jamie went on: “Because also, you’re so tall and so your head is so far away from your feet.

“I’m a lot smaller, so I can move around easier.”

“Nadiya keeps telling me this,” the hopeful contestant replied.

“She says ‘You’ve got so much leg and so much arm.’ I’m happy that I’m still in it – I’m amazed, I’m loving it.”

“Have you been needing to go to the bathroom just before you’ve gone on?” the television personality asked.

“All the time,” Dan admitted. “But when you’re strapped into everything, it’s quite difficult isn’t it?”

Jamie added: “The semi-finals – I honestly thought ‘This is going to be the most embarrassing moment.’

“I’m going to be on that show when something terrible is about to happen on the dancefloor, it was terrible.”

“Was it nerves Jamie?” asked Sally as he replied: “I don’t know what it was, I think someone slipped me a Laxative.”

The hosts then chatted about the events of the last show as Jamie praised his former professional partner, Karen Hauer.

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
