Beatles fan uncovers foul-mouth ending of the band's classic hits nearly 60 years on

A BEATLES buff has uncovered a foul-mouthed ending to one of their hits which has remained hidden for nearly 60 years.

Librarian Peter Daniels used software to strip away the music on Twist and Shout so only the vocals are left.

And he was stunned to hear John Lennon blurt out: “F***ing yeah” at the end.

Peter, 43, of Newcastle, said: “I’ve listened to the song a thousand times so didn’t think anything of it, then I suddenly heard this cry at the end.

“I couldn’t believe my ears. It was obvious what was being said and I couldn’t stop chuckling.”

Lennon had a cold and fever during the 1963 recording.

Producer George Martin described the raucous song as a “real larynx-tearer” and made sure it was the last number they performed at the end of the 12-hour session.

Lennon admitted: “The last song nearly killed me. My voice wasn’t the same for a long time after; every time I swallowed it was like sandpaper.”

His apparent relief at finishing the track was hidden by the guitar finale.

Peter added: “John got through the session by sucking on throat sweets and drinking milk.

“You can hear his voice breaking up as the take goes on.

“It is now regarded as one of the greatest recordings in pop history so it’s amazing to think that this outburst has been hidden for almost 60 years with millions of people buying the record without ever realising.”
