During Wednesday’s The Chase, ITV host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to the show. Derek, Sarah, Bianca and David had to work together as they each went head-to-head against Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis. However, during the show, Bradley made a joke about cabin crew Bianca after she got an “easy” question wrong.
Derek was the first contestant to take on The Chaser, although he got off to a rocky start after failing to answer many questions correctly in the quick-fire round.
After only getting two questions right, the retired dance teacher went head-to-head with Darragh.
The Chaser gave Derek the chance to win a high offer of £20,000 or a low offer of £1,000.
After discussing the decision with his fellow contestants, Derek decided to play for £1,000.
Luck was on his side as Derek sailed through the round and landed a place in the final.
Sarah was up next and she stormed through the quick-fire question round by answering five questions correctly.
After sticking with the £5,000 she had accumulated so far, the pharmacist impressed Darragh and returned to her fellow contestants.
“Very steady player,” the quizzer praised as he went on to point out she could be a “danger” in the final round.
The third player to take on Darragh was air stewardess, Bianca, who answered three questions correctly.
However, things didn’t go so well for Bianca after she got a John Wayne question wrong.
The question was: “Complete the title of the 1949 John Wayne film, ‘She Wore a Yellow… what?”
The answers Bianca could choose from were, hat, ribbon and dress, and because she wasn’t sure she went for dress.
“Dress,” Bradley repeated as Bianca replied: “Yes, I hope so.”
As the host pulled a face, the contestant asked: “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Bradley pretended to be an air steward as he mocked: “Because the doors are there, there.”
He proceeded to tell Bianca that it was a “great movie” before he explained the correct answer was ribbon.
Despite not getting off to the best starts, Bianca managed to win £1,000 for the team and bagged herself a place in the final round.
David was up next and the food truck owner managed to answer an impressive seven questions correctly.
Despite giving him the chance to win £53,000, David decided to play it safe and play for £7,000, and he sailed through to the final.
The contestants had two minutes to answer as many questions as they could.
Darragh then had to match the same amount of questions in a bid to beat the players.
The Chaser had two minutes to answer 20 questions correctly, and for every question he got wrong, the contestants got the chance to push him back a space.
It was very touch and go in the final, although luckily for the contestants, Darragh kept stumbling on a number of questions.
In the end, it wasn’t enough and the players ended up winning £14,000 between them.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
