Chris Packham, 60, and stepdaughter Megan McCubbin, 25, recently launched their new series Chris and Meg’s Wild Summer. The show sees the pair travel through the UK in a campervan to observe British wildlife. In a recent episode, Chris and Megan took time out of their travels to sit and take in their surroundings, talking about preventing “burnout”.

Whilst taking a break from their walk around Cumbria, Chris and Megan sat on the local beach, discussing their recent experiences and how they were feeling.

Megan began: “I tell you what though, as we’re here, in this tranquil environment, why not just sit and enjoy it got a minute? We never do that.”

“But I am allowed to look through my binoculars, aren’t I?” Chris joked, with Megan quickly replying: “Yes, yes!”

Megan then said: “I think prioritising trips like this is so important, to just reset and rebalance everything.

“I think it becomes a really kind of toxic thing, in a way when you’re just stuck indoor, do you know I feel like that’s kind of a very quick route to burnout.”

Hearing what Megan was saying, Chris jumped in and said: “It’s like a vaccination of hope.”

“Coming to places like this just gives me that hope back again, it makes me feel so much better,” she said.

“What are you saying? We should go on more holidays,” Chris asked to which Megan cheekily replied: “Well, I wouldn’t say no.

Fans of the show were delighted to see Chris and Megan taking a moment to relax and take in the scenery.

Sue on Twitter wrote: “This really should be on longer, it is so relaxing to watch #ChrisandMegsWildSummer.”

Daniel Brown also added: “Another really peaceful and relaxing #ChrisandMegsWildSummer to watch. It showed some beautiful scenery and wildlife.

Megan recently spoke about the final episode of their show being delayed due to “personal reason” and how the show altogether had been pushed back.

She explained: “It did get delayed a little bit, the last episode of filming, due to various personal reasons.

“It was a trip to reconnect with British wildlife, and it’s something that neither Chris nor I have done together in a very long time.”

Megan also joked that her and her stepfather weren’t close enough to spend the whole time in a campervan together.

“We were travelling in a fully electric campervan, and we stayed in hotels, I mean, Chris and I are close, but I’m not sure we’re that close.

“We used to travel around together a lot, so to have the opportunity to connect with the wildlife that we’re losing was really powerful.

“You can see the stark contrast between environments which are managed well and the environments which aren’t managed as well.”

“We covered all around from Pembrokeshire up to the Western Isles, so we had lots of opportunities to engage with that wildlife.”

Megan and Chris have also travelled to Snowdonia and South West Wales at the beginning of their series.

Chris and Megs’ Wild Summer airs Sundays at 8:30pm on BBC Two.
