Coronation Street fans in hysterics as Ken Barlow 'revealed' as Michael Bailey's dad in DNA test twist

CORRIE fans were left open-mouthed by a Ken Barlow bombshell from James Bailey that no-one saw coming.

The soap is famed for its perfect comedic timing and Tuesday’s episode did not disappoint as Michael Bailey’s (Ryan Russell) DNA test finally told us who his dad is.

Viewers have seen Michael in turmoil since his uncle Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) walked onto the cobbles and confessed he thought that Michael might be his son.

Creating a rift in the Bailey family, the long-awaited DNA results were sure to clear everything up.

As the DNA results arrived, Michael was far too nervous to open it, so his brother James Bailey (Nathan Graham) offered to read it first.

In tense scenes, James stared at the DNA results with Michael’s eyes also on him and then James revealed the name in the envelope was none other than Ken Barlow (Bill Roache).

A stunned Michel replied “What?” but then James burst into laughter and reassured him that his dad was indeed Ed (Trevor Michael Georges).

James’ light-hearted humour was a hit with fans as they took to Twitter to share their reactions.

One fan gushed: “James doing a classic Corrie fake out with a DNA test was the best thing I've seen that character do for months. Amazing. Ken Barlow!"

Another quipped: “It's… Ken Barlow. Corrie wins at everything”.

After the news of the DNA results spread, Ed is disheartened at not having been told beforehand.

However, he is happy to know Michael is his son, meaning Glory is his granddaughter.

Still, Ed has no interest in patching up things with his brother Ronnie as he accuses him of trying to “steal” his family away from him.

Ronnie apologised and left, but is it the last we have seen him? Can the Bailey family finally move on?

Coronation Street continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV
