There is a new arc in Coronation Street’s coercive control storyline which will see Geoff Metcalfe (played by Ian Bartholomew) target Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) in a bid to damage her reputation and Yasmeen Nazir’s (Shelley King) business. But has the master manipulator gone one step too far?
Next week, Alya will be left furious when she finds an alcohol delivery on the doorstep of Speed Daal.
Knowing full well she didn’t make the order, she will confront Geoff and the conversation will turn sour when she brings up buying him out of the restaurant.
Coronation Street viewers will see Geoff point blank refuse to sell his share and instead, Alya only aggravates him further.
After their tense disagreement, Geoff decides to sabotage the restaurant and cancels every member of staff’s shifts, leaving Alya struggling alone with the takeout orders.
It’s not long until the pressure gets to Alya and she sees red, throwing everyone out and smashing the place up in a frenzy.
But what will Geoff and Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) arrive, how will she explain herself?
Luckily, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) turns up and understands what has happened once Alya explains herself.
However, Geoff is adamant he had nothing to do with the Speed Daal staff not turning up for work, playing the innocent victim.
While Tim initially jumps to his dad’s defence, all is not what it seems when Ryan tells him Geoff has been undermining Alya for months.
Questioning how innocent his father really is, when Tim returns home, he accidentally tells Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) about the CCTV camera Geoff had installed into his and Yasmeen’s house.
Utterly horrified, Sally begs her husband to open his eyes and see Geoff for who he really is.
Speaking about this scene in Speed Daal, Sair said her character cannot predict Geoff’s next sinister move.

“I’m sure Geoff would’ve loved the chance to gloat at Alya’s distress but he doesn’t get the chance, there are too many other people around,” the actress revealed.
“Alya could be playing right into his hands.
“There’s no way to know with Geoff, he’s so conniving, you never know what he’s going to do next,” Sair added.
As for what Yasmeen is up to, the last time ITV viewers saw her she was lying in a hospital bed recovering from a heart attack.
The actress who plays Yasmeen was recently seen leaving set after a long day of filming.
There have been questions raised over what is going to happen with the upcoming court scenes.
After all, Yasmeen was on her way to her trial before she suffered severe pains in her chest.
But with social distancing putting a strain on location filming – there have been suggestions the ITV soap is building a courtroom.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
