Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree got married in 2015, a few months after they moved to France and into Chateau de La Motte Husson. In an old episode of Escape to the Chateau, the couple had a few hiccups on their big day; Angel’s wedding bouquet and the lock on the front door of the castle potentially trapping their guests inside.

Despite having lots of family, friends and hired help, Angel was busy organising and deleting on the morning on her wedding.

Her flowers arrived but she was left utterly disappointed.

That is not very impressive, at all,” she said rifling through the box. “I’ve got to say, that looks a bit naff and dead.

“I just ordered them because they looked good online…I will not use that bouquet,” the mother of two told viewers.

A second supplier arrived and delivered more blooms for the house but it was too late for her own bouquet.

Angel remarked: “Half the battle is any business is finding your suppliers, finding good people to work with, getting a good team together.

“Trying to do that and look after the kids and the wedding is just…[impossible].”

Later on, when the vows had been exchanged the marriage certificate signed, Dick, Angel and their guests sat down for their wedding breakfast in the orangery.

Raising a glass to make a toast, Dick said: “You may notice we’ve done a lot of work to do, there’s still a lot more to do.”

While he was referring to the future, he possibly didn’t expect to be getting his toolbox out a couple of hours later to fix The Chateau door.

The narrator told viewers: “But a handyman’s work is never done. And Dick’s skilled are called upon, once more.”

“I need my glasses to do this job,” Dick said. “Slight issue – just a little bit of maintenance on the front door.”

The plates on the front door lock had come loose, and those inside The Chateau risked being stuck inside unless it was fixed immediately.

But it was a minor task for Dick who managed to get it done in seconds.

It comes after the couple spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about renewing their wedding vows.

Having done so much restoration and renovation on the property and outbuildings, when asked whether they would say “I do” again in the Orangery, they relied: “Haha…possibly!!

“The Orangery is looking so lovely after the work we did last year, and we celebrated our wedding anniversary with a very special meal cooked and served (with a little help from the grandparents of course) by Arthur and Dorothy in their ‘pop-up’ restaurant.

“It was wonderful! For the time being though, we’re looking forward to seeing the space alive again with people and merriment when our wedding season finally re-starts,” they added.

Escape to the Chateau is available to watch on 4oD now.
