Doctor Who fans ‘obsessed’ with first-look clip of Jodie Whittaker for season 12

Doctor Who fans have been left thrilled with the first look teaser clips for season 12.

With bosses confirming filming is wrapped for the upcoming series. it won't be long until the much-loved sci-fi show returns to our screens.

But luckily fans have a treat for the meantime as producers have been releasing first looks of the new season.

On the official Doctor Who Twitter page, producers have published a teaser clip which shows Jodie Whittaker and her fellow time travellers on set.

What was even more exciting was the video's caption, which read: "That’s a wrap, we’ve finished filming! Are you ready for Series 12?"

Fans flocked to reply to the tweet, with hundreds showing their excitement over the news.

One wrote: "Omg yess I can not wait!"

A second said: "This has actually made my day."

Another said: "It's going to be so so good."

From the official account, bosses later confirmed that Stephen Fry and Sir Lenny Henry CBE will appear in the series as special guests.

Speaking ahead of his Doctor Who appearance Stephen Fry said: "Short of being picked for a British space exploration programme and I readily concede that I’m past the age where I’d be considered (if I was ever the right age for such a posting) – then being in an episode of Doctor Who will certainly do as a very sweet second-place excitement."

Sir Lenny Henry CBE added: "It was absolutely brilliant to be welcomed into the fantastical world of Doctor Who.

"The nearest I have been to the Tardis was when I played the Caribbean Doctor in the Lenny Henry Show, so as a life-long (hiding behind the sofa type) Doctor Who fan this is a very special moment for me."

Jodie Whittaker will be starring as the first-ever female Doctor Who, the thirteenth Doctor in total.
