EastEnders fans meltdown over ‘iconic’ Tiffany Butcher line during Dotty fight

EastEnders viewers were left in hysterics during Thursday night's visit to Walford, as they spotted a blast from the past.

Tiffany Butcher was at home chatting to Dotty Cotton about heading to the pub and snooping on Sonia's business as it was revealed Tony was her father.

"Sonia lost for words? This I have got to see," Dotty said.

"So yeah, do you wanna come to the pub with us?" Tiffany asked, as Dotty replied in the affirmative.

"Well, tough, you can't. I'm not letting you ruin the night. You're NFI."

Dotty was clearly stumped by the acronym, as she questioned: "NFI?"

And Tiffany explained: "Not flippin' invited."

Viewers were stunned by the blast from the past reference, and swarmed to Twitter to share their memories, which harked back to a 2010 episode featuring the same duo.

"No way did EastEnders just pull the NFI card!" one fan wrote.

Another scribbled: "TIFFANY THAT ICONIC LINE YES!"

As someone else raced to add: "Not an NFI mention in 2021!"

"NOT FLIPPIN INVITED!" another simply sobbed.

The acronym first popped up in a 2010 episode of the BBC soap, as a tiny Tiffany spoke to Dotty in the schoolyard.

"What are you doing?" Dotty asked the other girl as she approached her at school.

"I'm having a party in there," Tiffany told Dotty. "It's gonna be brilliant. Do you wanna come?"

Dotty enthusiastically replied: "Maybe."

"Well you can't. You're NFI," Tiffany said at the time.

"NFI?" asked Dotty, as the ginger-haired youngster replied: "Not flippin' invited!", proving that Tiffany clearly possessed the same level of sass eleven years ago as she does in 2021!

Even the official BBC EastEnders Twitter account got in on the joke, as they posted a comparison clip of Tiffany in 2021 and 2010 along with the caption: "Some things never change."

"This was the first scene that came into my mind. I can't believe it's been 11 years since!" someone replied.

While someone else joked: "Things have changed – the actress who plays Dotty!"

Dotty was originally played by Molly Conlin from 2008 until 2010, with Milly Zero reprising the role back in 2019. Tiffany, meanwhile, has been played by Maisie Smith since 2008.

Tiffany's character was originally introduced as a product of a one-night stand between Ricky Butcher and Bianca Jackson in their spin-off show Ricky & Bianca back in 2002.

The two-episode show was set in Manchester.
