2020 has delivered some pretty earth shattering blows, but Emily In Paris was certainly not one of them. It’s set to be the gift that keeps on giving as Netflix confirms the viral slice of escapism will be back for a second season.
In an interview with Glamour, the show’s creator Darren Star said this: “I am thrilled to be returning to Paris for a second season to continue Emily’s adventures in the magical ‘City of Light.’”
The first season followed Lily Collins (Emily) as she fumbled through the fabulous world of France’s luxury marketing industry in some of the most stylish clothes we've ever laid eyes on.

Full of endearingly obnoxious American verve, viewers got to watch her stumble through the language barrier, come up trumps in her battle to impress her demanding boss and even fall in love… with her French best friend’s boyfriend.
The muscle in question is up and coming chef Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, who just so happened to be Emily’s neighbour and her French friend Camille’s lover.
Despite the complications, their chemistry was unstoppable. With Garbriel and Camille breaking up over the former’s decision to leave Paris in order to buy his own restaurant, Emily and Gabriel finally ended up falling into bed with one another.
The first series ended with Gabriel deciding not to leave Paris and Emily receiving the dreaded, “Can we talk?” text from Camille.
With details of the second series still firmly under wraps and France back in lockdown at least to the end of this month, any clues on where the story will go are few and far between.
Darren Star told Glamour that he’s hoping to start filming next spring and teased that he had some great ideas to include more of Emily’s “work family, especially Sylvie.”

The ball-busting Parisian version of Miranda Priestly is played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu. As much as she tries to despise her, Sylvie can’t help but commend Emily each and every time she manages to flip a disaster and pull a win out of the bag.
Whether you loved or hated Sylvie, one character that fans seemed to be united in their obsession with was Mindy, played by Ashley Park. In his chat with Glamour, Darren Star also revealed that best buds Emily and Mindy will probably be roommates when the season returns.
If there was one good thing to come out of lockdown, it was the hours of binge watching many of us got to enjoy during furlough or on the isolated weekends and we’re pleased we can look forward to a little more of the same.
