Emmerdale fans distracted after recognising Juliette actress from famous film
Emmerdale fans saw a familiar face return to the village on Wednesday, as Juliette Holliday popped up in the cafe – much to Nicola King's chagrin.
Despite leaving her son in Jimmy King's care in 2016, this evening Juliette announced she was looking at houses in the area, so she could "be around" for Carl "all the time".
Watching the scene play out, viewers were immediately struck by where they had seen actress Amelia Curtis before, realising she had appeared in a major film two decades ago.
Amelia played the character Sharon in 2000's Kevin & Perry Go Large – a popular local girl who confronts title character Kevin after he lies about having sex with her.
Starring Harry Enfield, the film has gained a cult following over the past 20 years, thanks in part to its score of music.
Amelia was in her 20s when she was cast in the film, and later made a name for herself as Viki Lovejoy in the final series of Lovejoy.
As Nicola confronted Juliette over her decision to move back to Emmerdale, searching for a home close to her son Carl, viewers took to Twitter.
One wrote: "I've just twigged that Juliette was Sharon in Kevin and Perry Go Large!"
Another, quoting her role as Sharon, added: "#Emmerdale everytime I see juliette all I can think of is kevin lol you virgin."
"Emmerdale character Juliette looks familiar…Kevin & Perry Go Large, she taunted Kev ‘Viiiirgin!'" Added a third earlier this year.
Juliette incorrectly assumed Nicola, who has been a mother figure to Carl for the past five years, would be pleased to hear she was moving nearby.
"Having given it some thought, I’ve decided to move here, be around for my Carl all the time," she announced.
Sensing Nicola's fury, she added: "Is there a problem? You said that you were supportive of the two of us building a relationship?"
Nicola suddenly launched into an enraged rant, asking: "Just how supportive am I expected to be here exactly?
"You don’t think we’ve all had enough adjustment already? Coming to terms with your sudden magical reappearance. What do you expect us to do next, stick on Juliette face masks?"
The cafe boss, whose marriage is hanging on by a thread, finished with: "As if holding on to our family hasn’t been hard enough!"
