Emmerdale fans distracted from cruel dog killer storyline by huge gender blunder
Emmerdale fans found themselves distracted from Thursday night's first visit to the Dales, as they noticed an awkward gender blunder.
Things were getting tense in the village, as Andrea and Charles prepared to head off on their camping holiday, taking their Bichon Frise Princess along with them.
On Wednesday, the hapless pooch had used Gabby's designer handbag as a temporary toilet, leaving the pregnant teen enraged by Princess' audacity.
And on Thursday, Princess was decked out with a pink bow in her white fur.
But as Princess ran amok in the village on Thursday, some fans noticed that, despite her being referred to as a girl in the show, the dog actually appears to be a boy.
And viewers took to Twitter to share their eagle-eyed findings, with one posting: "Unless my eyes deceive me the little Bichon Frise appearing in tonight's Emmerdale is a male but they call him Princess and refer to him as a girl."
Someone else theorised: "That 'Princess' dog in #Emmerdale has got a penis.
"I'm not weird or anything, I don't spend my time looking at dogs' junk on telly, it's just pretty obvious. You can see it every time 'she' runs on screen.
"Is this going to be a plot twist?" they wondered.
A third fan posted: "Dog in Emmerdale is called Princess and has a penis."
However, others were more concerned at how Andrea carried on chatting to Leyla in the salon, oblivious to the fact that her beloved pet was trapped in the car outside.
"So Andrea has walked past the dog that's no longer there yapping?" one frustrated fan wrote with an eye-roll emoji.
Another added: "Andrea hasn't noticed her dog locked in the car outside her house??"
"So, nobody's noticed the dog is quiet. No squeaky toy either? As if she wouldn't be opening the door to check on Princess with or without the barking," someone else said.
It came as Andrea's daughter Millie became distracted by a spider, sending the family outside to search for the wayward arachnid.
And fans were absolutely outraged by the "sick" storyline, with one penning: "I swear if that dog dies in the car… I'm rioting."

"Everyone knows you aren't supposed to leave dogs in hot cars, what kind of message are they sending out? They have made a bad move. It makes me sick to look!" another ranted, as a third viewer posted: "If they kill that dog on Emmerdale, I won't ever watch it again."
Emmerdale airs on ITV at 7pm weeknights, with an extra helping at 8pm on Thursdays.
