Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi first appeared in the ITV soap as Leyla Cavanagh back in 2008.
The 39-year-old actress has since become a fan favourite.
It has been revealed that viewers will be made aware of Leyla's dark past in upcoming scenes.
Recent weeks have seen fans become aware that Leyla has something else going on in her life and it appears to be something that her hubby Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson) and her friends in the village know nothing about.
The character also rattled by the arrival of newcomer Suzy (Martelle Edinborough) and feels unsettled when she spots her having a drink with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) in The Woolpack.

The Emmerdale beauty certainly dressed to impress for the British Soap Awards back in 2015.
She donned a chic light grey Peek-A-Boo crop top with a pair of matching trousers.
Leyla made sure her toned torso was at the centre of attention as she posted for the cameras on the red carpet.
The actress styled her trademark tresses half up in a beehive style with the other half loose and accessorised her outfit with some glam jewellery.
Bright and beautiful
Roxy opted for a show-stopping yellow jumpsuit for the British Soap Awards in 2017.
The silky off-the-shoulder number, which features flamboyant sleeves, showed off her figure in all the right places.

Roxy oozed glamour in a white and black polka dot midi dress as she attended the British Soap Awards in 2019.
The styled her hair in a up do with a few strands of hair left down to frame her facial features.
She opted to add some extension of her model pins with a pair of black stilettos and finished off her look with a black handbag.
Nude leotard
Back in 2015, Roxy showed off her hidden talent to the world.
She appeared as a contestant on ITV reality show Get Your Act Together, which was hosted by Stephen Mulhern.
The show features celebrities learning various different acts, such as juggling, singing, impressions and escapology, and performing them on a live stage.
Roxy appeared in the fifth heat of the series alongside Matt Johnson, Ruth Madoc, Nina Wadia and Jedward.
Despite donning a nude leotard while performing her contortion act, Roxy failed to make the live finals.
Lookalike sister
Roxy wowed her fans last year when she uploaded a gorgeous snap of herself and her lookalike sister Eve online.
Posing for the selfie, the brunette siblings stood side by side for the striking close up.
TV star Roxy stared seductively down the camera lens while her hair sat effortlessly on her shoulders, adding a peach hued lipstick to her lips.
The star also wore copper coloured strappy top that highlighted her assets.
Eve also sported a similar look with her makeup and gave fans a gorgeous smile.
