Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle (played by Lucy Pargeter) has been at the epicentre of the biggest plots over the past few months, from the death of her mum Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter), to the murder of her lover Al Chapman (Michael Wildman). But the drama isn’t quite over yet for Chas as her husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) has discovered the truth. There is also the matter of a mysterious sibling to contend with.

Who plays young Chas in Emmerdale?

On Christmas Day, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was visited in prison by someone fans hadn’t seen before in Emmerdale.

However, it quickly became apparent that this was his and Chas’ secret brother Caleb Dingle (Will Ash) who felt the need to see his older sibling behind bars.

While Chas had no knowledge of Caleb before he showed up in the village, Cain had known about him for years.

He chose to keep this secret for the past 30 years and the Boxing Day episode is ready to explore why.

Emmerdale’s upcoming instalment will be a flashback episode, taking viewers to 1991 when Cain (Aiden Kane) first meets his brother Caleb (Riccardo Drayton) whose mum is also Faith.

The episode will focus on their relationship, why they became estranged, and why Cain chose to keep his existence a secret for all these years.

A young Chas is also going to make an appearance in a couple of scenes, portrayed by actress Maddy Barker.

Like Kane, this is Barker’s first time on TV and has yet to conduct any interviews regarding her time in the Dales.

Young Caleb, on the other hand, most recently featured in the CBBC series Jamie Johnson as Hawkstone Captain Brooklyn.

When Kane spoke to Digital Spy, he expressed how much he enjoyed working with Barker on Emmerdale.

He said: “There’s one or two scenes between the young Cain and Chas.

“It was probably my favourite scene that I did, as it was a really nice one.”

There has been a lot of backlash towards Chas due to her affair with businessman Al.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed by Chas actress Pargeter either who previously noted: “They [fans] are absolutely furious with her.

“In fact with all the storylines I’ve ever played I have never had a response like this.

“They are furious and the vigour and the anger they have is strong.”

Cain remains behind bars for Al’s murder, despite no one knowing the truth that his son Kyle Dingle (Huey Quinn) actually pulled the trigger.

Even Chas herself is unaware of the truth and continues to blame Cain for what happened.

But with Caleb paying him a visit, is Cain finally going to let out how Al was really murdered?

Emmerdale is available to watch on ITV and ITVX.
