Emmerdale teenager Amelia Spencer (played by Daisy Campbell) had the shock of her life when she went into labour early alone in a barn during the middle of a catastrophic storm. Luckily, Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) managed to find Amelia and got her to the hospital. ITV soap fans have been left desperate to know if Amelia’s baby survives and the actress who plays her has opened up on how she prepared for the character’s labour ordeal.
Storm week is continuing to cause destruction across Emmerdale as the fates of several characters still lie in the balance.
In scenes yet to air on Wednesday evening, Amelia makes it to the hospital with Lydia as her painful labour continues.
When they arrive at the maternity ward, Lydia explains to doctors how Amelia has gone into labour weeks earlier than anticipated.
Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and her partner Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) rush to Amelia’s side as does her father Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) who is overcome with worry.
Will Amelia and her unborn baby both be okay?
Amelia went into labour during Emmerdale’s 50th-anniversary special on Sunday evening.
She was due to meet her boyfriend Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) for a date outside the village before an unexpected windstorm swept across the Yorkshire Dales.
Panicked, the youngster found shelter in a vacant barn and soon realised she was going into labour early.
She was left yelling out in pain as her contractions started happening, but luckily Lydia found her hours later and called for an ambulance.
Amelia actress Daisy opened up to Express.co.uk and other publications about preparing for the distressing scenes.
The 19-year-old actress said: “It’s such a tough thing for anyone to go through but because Amelia is so young, she’s only just turned 16.
“She’s so confused when she goes into labour because she doesn’t really know what’s going on at first.”
After watching the terrifying scenes back, Daisy said: “I am pleased with it now because going through that and filming it was intense, and I love doing intense scenes.
“When I was doing it I knew I had to just go for it, I was jogging and doing star jumps between takes as I needed to be out of breath.
“But seeing it now, I can relax now as I have done all the hard work.”
She added: “It felt like we were filming a film and it’s one of the best filming days I have ever done, it didn’t feel like we were filming Emmerdale.”
The barn was meant to be located over the hill from Emmerdale but in reality, it was in the middle of nowhere, Daisy explained.
She said: “It’s really beautiful, but they had to make it look really awful with the storm.”
Will the baby’s father Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) rush to be by Amelia’s side when he finds out she has been rushed to the hospital?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
