Five clues Little Mix were set to take a break – from greatest hits release to new film career

AFTER 10 successful years together Little Mix have decided to "take a break" to pursue other things.

On Thursday evening the girl group – who formed on the eighth series of X Factor in 2011 – announced they're taking a break next year to focus on solo projects.

Leigh-Anne Pinnok, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards told fans they will be going their separate ways after their Confetti tour ends in May, but they insist they will be back in the future.

They told their 15m followers on Instagram: "We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix.

"It’s been 10 amazing years, a wonderful non-stop adventure, and we feel the time is right to take a break so we can recharge and work on some other projects.

"We can’t thank you enough for your love and never-ending support since the beginning. We love you all SO much.

"We are not splitting up – Little Mix are here to stay 💫 We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.

"We’re sisters and we’ll always have each other and you, the fans, in our lives. Little Mix is forever ♥️ See you on tour! Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie x."

But it seems like this news has been a long time coming.

Let's have a look at all the clues that have led up to their "break"…

Evasive statements

Since Jesy Nelson, 30, left the band last year, everyone has been desperate to know what the future holds for Little Mix.

But over the last few months they've been coy on their future, and not categorically ruling out solo projects when asked in interviews.

Last month they seemed to confirm their split up during a painfully awkward chat, where they dodged a question about what is next for the trio.

On an Australian radio station they were asked what their plans were, before the host added: “Is that a question that collectively there’s no known answer for?”

Leigh-Anne replied sheepishly: “Well, I mean, I just think Little Mix, ten years in, it’s something that can never really die.”

Break for babies

In August this year Perrie revealed she had given birth to her first child with her footballer boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Little Mix star wrote: "Welcome to the world baby 21/08/21 ♥️"

The Geordie lass stunned Little Mix fans when she revealed she was pregnant in May.

The news came just days after Leigh-Anne confirmed she and footballer fiance Andre Gray were also expecting.

Leigh-Anne became a mum for the first time after secretly giving birth to the twins on August 16, 2021.

So with two out of three members now busy looking after their newborn babies, it seems inevitable that they were going to take a break at some point…

Their greatest hits release

Last month fans think the were left convinced the band's new single Between Us would be their last after finding 'clues' in the lyrics of the track.

Their greatest hits album – which is of the same name as their single – was released on November 12.

The songs on the record are a reflection of their successful decade-long career as a band.

That can only mean one thing…

Solo music plans

Back in October The Sun exclusively revealed how the girls would pursue solo careers after their 2022 tour.

At the time music industry sources said the trio had been quietly negotiating new management and recording deals.

A source said: “They’ve been pretty open with each other about it. There are a lot of meetings happening at the moment. Some of them have already done management deals. Leigh-Anne has signed up with Dua Lipa’s manager, Jade is cutting her teeth as a songwriter and presenter, while Perrie is working on other things too.

Leigh-anne's film career

On Tuesday evening the singer wowed at the premiere for new festive movie Boxing Day.

Leigh-Anne will make her acting debut in the Christmas flick, which is due to hit our screens December 3.

Earlier this year she announced the news that she had bagged a part in the British rom com.

Proud as punch, the star shared a snap of a movie clapper board emblazoned with the words "BOXING DAY, SCENE 15, SLATE 1".

Captioning the Instagram picture, she simply told her followers: "No words!"
