Gabrielle Union ‘Unapologetic’ About Her ‘AGT’ Appearance Despite Branded ‘Too Black’

The newly-ousted ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge writes a self-empowerment message while posting a montage of clips from her appearance on the NBC talent show.

AceShowbizGabrielle Union reflected on her “America’s Got Talent” looks after the star was reportedly criticised for appearing “too black” on the show.

The actress served as a judge for the TV talent contest’s latest season, but was axed last month amid reports she raised a number of race and gender-related issues that were not reported to network bosses at NBC.

Her departure, and that of fellow judge Julianne Hough, is currently under investigation by union officials at SAG-AFTRA, but the “Empire” star isn’t letting the controversy bring her down – as she took to Instagram to celebrate her style throughout the series.

“Unapologetically me,” she penned beneath a montage of clips from the season. “Be comfortable and confident with your whole a*s self. It might give others the fluuuxxx but never stop being you. You can shine on your own terms.”

She added, “I dont take notes rooted in anti-blackness. I love me as i am.”

Union recently had a “lengthy 5-hour… productive meeting” with officials at network NBC as she attempted to work through the issues, although the investigation remains ongoing.

Multiple reports suggest Union had issues with the way she was asked to dress for the show, while also complaining about a racially-insensitive joke guest judge Jay Leno made backstage. She also reportedly protested when a white contestant darkened his face to look more like Beyonce Knowles for an audition skit.
