Great British Bake Off's Prue Leith shares incredible throwback photo

Fans couldn’t quite believe Prue Leith’s age last week, and now the Great British Bake Off star has shared an incredible throwback photo during a conversation on body confidence.

The Bake Off judge posted a message on social media, thanking fans for their kind messages and saying she’s ‘having a very happy old age’.

Viewers were left seriously shocked as Prue casually dropped into conversation with hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas that she is 80 years old on last week’s show.

Now, Prue has posted a picture of her at 29, which was taken back in 1969.

She wrote: ‘Thank you so much for all the great compliments about how I look on Bake Off! Truth is I’m having a very happy old age, am not averse to fake tan out of a bottle and all the glamour is added by Bambi and Debbie (the glam team) Sharon (wardrobe) and Jane and Claire the GBBO’s stylists!’

Prue added: ‘Isn’t it mad that at any age we ALWAYS think we look grim, should lose a stone etc. In 1969 ( aged 29) I thought I’d die of shame if I hit ten stone.’

The picture shows Prue in a glamorous dress, enjoying what looks like a glass of champagne.

The judge added: ‘Now I look at that picture and wonder what I was on about: today I live in dread of hitting thirteen stone. But I’m very grateful for all the positive messages. Thank you so much.’

Prue and her fellow judge Paul Hollywood have one of the hardest decisions in Bake Off history to make on next week’s final. She previously said that this year’s finalists are ‘some of the best’ they’ve ever had on the show.

Meanwhile, Prue recently revealed how she’s managed to avoid gaining weight during the current run.

Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesday, at 8pm on Channel 4.
