Janette Manrara had been on Strictly Come Dancing for seven years, joining in 2013 alongside her dancer husband Aljaz Škorjanec. She was the pocket rocket of the professional dancers, pairing up with celebrities including Julian MacDonald, Ranj Singh, HRVY, Jake Wood and Peter Andre just to name a few. But it was sad news for Strictly fans when Janette announced she would no longer be dancing on the BBC show.

Janette revealed in June 2021 season 18 was her last as she was taking a step back from competing in the series.

Her final partner on the show was singer HRVY who was a runner-up last year, along with Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing and EastEnders’ Maisie Smith.

Janette first talked about this big decision when she was a guest on The One Show.

But she also made it clear she wasn’t leaving the Strictly world altogether.

Janette has replaced presenter Zoe Ball on the Strictly spin-off chat show It Takes Two, presenting with Rylan Clark-Neal.

She explained: “I will miss dancing on that iconic dance floor weekly, but forever grateful to continue being a part of the Strictly Come Dancing family!

“One of my favourite parts of doing Strictly has always been to sit down on that couch and just chat away. It’s the most fun.

“I was thinking: ‘This is the coolest job ever. You get to sit down, talk about dancing, make people feel good and celebrate their successes on the show… One day I would love to do that’, and it’s here, here we are!”

Is Janette Manrara back on Strictly Come Dancing?

Unfortunately, Janette is not returning to Strictly as one of its professional dancers.

But she has been reunited with her dancing family, this time behind the camera.

Janette is taking on a new role, assisting in choreographing some of the professional group performances.

Her first role as a choreographer was helping bring to life the In The Heights routine which dazzled audiences.

Sharing a video of the performance on Instagram, Janette wrote: “It was such an incredible experience to be a part of the creative/choreography process w/ @tommythefranzen & @lizzie.gough for this professionals group number!

“Being #Latina, listening to this music, celebrating #InTheHeightsMovie, and most importantly being back w/ my amazing professionals family….. dream come true!!!!

“Thank you for having me back @bbcstrictly! It was an honour.”

The latest celebrity to leave the competition was actor Greg Wise and his partner Karen Hauer.

They were in the dance-off with comedian and presenter Judie Love and Graziano Di Prima.

Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke agreed to keep Judi in the competition but head judge Shirley Ballas was in favour of Greg.

Strictly Come Dancing airs every Saturday on BBC One.
