Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar slammed for celebrating Jennifer's 14th birthday with 'boring' cake as Josh faces prison time

JIM Bob and Michelle Duggar have been slammed by fans for celebrating daughter Jennifer's 14th birthday with 'boring' cake.

It comes as their son Josh faces prison time after his arrest on child pornography charges.

But the family's trying time did not put a stop to celebrations for daughter Jennifer's birthday as she posed with a white iced cake, topped off with a small candle.

Mum Michelle, 54, posted the snap to her Instagram stories and told her followers: "Jordyn loves to bake, so she made a special cake for Jenni for her birthday!"

She added: "It was delicious!"

Michelle, who shares 19 children with husband Jim Bob, also shared a smiling pic of Jennifer with some of her sisters, including Jana to her main feed.

She captioned the photo: "Happy 14th birthday, Jennifer! 💕🎂"

But Counting On fans weren't so sure about the baked offering in the pictures and went to vent on Reddit.

It was delicious!

One asked: "That is one bleak ass cake why would they post this 😆 😆"

"It’s so BORING and blah. They literally made zero effort for that poor kids birthday," added another.

A third commented: "The teeny tiny, oh, btw, happy birthday candle makes it worse 😢".

The Reddit conversation was given the title: "Guess so much of the money has gone to lawyers they can’t afford to get Jenny a decent cake."

Josh, 33, is currently awaiting his trial date in November.

A source told The Sun the mother of Josh's six children is struggling emotionally and financially since his arrest and the end of the show.

They said: "Anna is really struggling with Josh's arrest, and she's still at war with his parents Jim Bob and Michelle.

"She still lives in the warehouse on Duggar land but isn't particularly welcome at the main house at the moment.

"She has been pointing the finger at everyone else for what has happened to Josh, she's falling out with family members and isolating herself."

Josh pleaded not guilty after being charged with two counts of receiving and possessing child porn.

He was taken into custody on federal charges on April 29 following a 2019 Homeland Security raid on his now-shuttered used car dealership.

His father Jim Bob is believed to be paying his lawyers, as Josh has been out of work for months.

He also arranged for a third party custodian to take him in when he was let out on bail.

Counting On's last season ended in September 2020, and fans had been left wondering if there will be a new season this year.

After The Sun broke the news of the cancelation, a rep for the network confirmed: "TLC will not be producing additional seasons of Counting On.

"TLC feels it is important to give the Duggar family the opportunity to address their situation privately."
