Kanye West & Dua Lipa collab leaks online — but it won't be officially released
DUA LIPA has worked with plenty of the world’s top acts.
But there’s one collaborator she may wish she had never agreed to team up for — Kanye West.
A snippet has leaked online of a song by the rapper called Law Of Attraction, which surprisingly features Dua’s vocals.
The tune was originally recorded in secret two years ago for Kanye’s album Yandhi, which had been due for release in 2018 but was scrapped.
However, given his strange political rantings and controversial comments in recent months, I imagine she wishes she had never gone near a studio with him.
A music insider said: “Dua really liked Kanye’s music when she was younger and considered herself a big fan.
“She was thrilled to get in the studio with him because it was a real experience. But unfortunately the song just never worked out. By the time Kanye released his album, the entire concept had changed and this track just didn’t fit at all.”
A full version of the song has previously leaked, but this new snippet includes Dua singing lyrics that, quite frankly, make no sense to me.
She croons: “Did you ever think of follow reason? Follow reason, cannot see my face. Law of attraction, means I’m lost in passion, means I got what I asked for, exactly what I asked for.”
Dua’s previous collaborations include tracks with Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris and Missy Elliott.
SILENCE SPEAKS VOLUMES
And in 2018, shortly before she and Kanye hit the studio together, she was forced to defend herself against Taylor Swift fans who abused her online after she said she preferred Kanye.
Speaking about the backlash back then — and confirming she did once admire the rapper — Dua said: “I wasn’t thinking about their beef. I was thinking about their music and Taylor is amazing, but I’m such a hip-hop fan that I would probably choose Kanye over anyone.”
But this year, Dua has been vocal in her support for US presidential candidate Joe Biden and stayed quiet on Kanye’s own bid to succeed Donald Trump.
The silence speaks volumes.
Fred's on the vin de pays well
A PACKET of Marks & Spencer’s Percy Pig gums would have been enough to get me to sign – but when the chain store got Fred Sirieix on board as their wine ambassador they had to fork out a lot more.
TV’s First Dates maître D has landed £230,000 to become the face of M&S’s new range of vino.
An insider said of the Frenchman: “Fred has become hugely popular because of his role on First Dates, as well as his TV road-trips series with Gordon Ramsay and Gino D'Acampo.
“Plus, he’s genuinely an expert in this field.
“So when Marks & Spencer approached him to become their wine ambassador, they made sure it was an offer he couldn’t turn down.
“They put forward a contract worth £230,000 which would see Fred posing up for adverts to be used online and in store, along with him giving his expert opinion on the brand’s wine ranges.
“For Fred, this gig couldn’t be more perfect, as he’s paid to talk about what he loves – nice wine.
“He is a total hit with M&S shoppers, who will be seeing a lot more of Fred both in store and online over the coming months.”
If someone fancies paying me to talk about and try their range of lagers, you can see my contact details are at the top of the page.
And I’ll tell you what, I’ll do it for free.
Lew ok, Borat?
NOT even the struggles of 2020 have dulled Lewis Capaldi's humour.
The Scottish singer shared a video dressed up as a dodgy-looking Borat to promote the sequel to the Sacha Baron Cohen film, out on Amazon.
Recalling his words when asked to do the paid post, he said: “I’ve worked really hard and I’m now finally being taken seriously as a musician.
“So I’ll help you guys, but I’m not doing anything that will degrade me. I don’t degrade myself for money any more.”
If you say so, Lewis.

Stay tuned, says Ezra
TWO and a half years have passed since George Ezra's last album, but the wait isn’t over yet.
The Shotgun singer has admitted he is unsure about releasing his third record next year because he is not convinced he’ll be able to play gigs due to Covid restrictions.
He explained: “If I were to release an album next year, would there be touring? I don’t know.
“And can you release an album next year, then wait a year to tour it? It’s difficult to picture it.”
With that said, George has given fans a ray of hope by hinting that he has several songs ready.
He said on his Phone A Friend podcast: “Last week I was able to be in the studio with a few people, including two musicians I love to pieces – they’re f***ing brilliant musicians.
“There was a handful of songs and we were like, ‘Let’s start to piece them together to see what an album could sound like’.”
Perhaps the wait won’t be a long one, after all.
DIANA ROSS was due to play Glastonbury’s Legends slot back in June but now she has given the clearest sign yet that she will return next summer instead.
She has been announced as a headliner for the Lytham Festival on June 30 – days after Glastonbury is set to take place.
Snow Patrol, Lionel Richie and Duran Duran are among other artists set to perform at the Lytham Festival in Lancashire, with tickets going on sale on Friday.
The return of live music can’t come soon enough.
Artist of the year?
THE WEEKND leads the way with eight nods in nominations for the American Music Awards.
The Canadian singer, who released fourth album After Hours in March, sits alongside Roddy Ricch, who secured the same number of nominations.
The pair will battle it out for the coveted Artist of the Year award.
They’re also up against Justin Bieber, Post Malone and Taylor Swift, the only female in that category.
Megan Thee Stallion is the most nominated female, up for five gongs. Lady Gaga has four nods.
