Lorraine Kelly looks almost unrecognisable in her first ever TV report as an unearthed clip from her former reporting days in the heart of Glasgow came to light – years before she landed her self-titled show
Since 2010, Lorraine Kelly has hosted her hugely successful chat show of the same name in which she discusses the latest news headlines with a variety of celebrity guests.
But the the 61-year-old hasn’t always been firmly ingrained in daytime television, as she started her journalism career in local Scottish news in the heart of Glasgow in 1984.
The glamorous mum-of-one held her role in regional news for five years before she made the transition over to presenting on GMTV in 1990.
But even the biggest Lorraine fan would be forgiven for not recognising the brunette belle in the early days of her career as she sported a much shorter look teamed with her classic oversized glasses.
During Monday’s episode of the show, one of the ITV producers unearthed a throwback clip from one of her first TV reports back in the mid 80s.
In the video, Lorraine is pictured wearing her large glasses paired with her short pixie hair cut – a far cry away from her glamorous presenting look nowadays.
She teamed her youthful look with a grey blazer which she layered over the top of a pink floral patterned button up shirt as she reported live from the scene.
Lorraine started out as a Glasgow based reporter who covered stories all over the country including the tragic Lockerbie disaster in 1988.
And her loving husband Steve Smith has been by her side through thick and thin as the pair celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
The happy couple first met when Steve worked as a cameraman and Lorraine was out in the field as a correspondent.
The pair went on to tie the knot in 1992 and welcomed their daughter Rosie just three years later.
The loving wife recently told the Mirror: “He picks up the slack and always has. I couldn’t do what I do if it weren’t for him.
“He makes me laugh an awful lot. He's very kind and a brilliant dad,” she gushed.
