Lucifer ending explained: Will there be a happy ending? Star teases season 5 finale

Lucifer fans have been waiting for almost a year for new episodes of the hit devilish drama. Now the final season is almost out and the stars have been dropping some hints about how it will all come to an end.

Will there be a happy ending for Lucifer?

Popular series Lucifer will be returning to Netflix very soon with the first half of the fifth season.

The show will pick up six months after the season four finale which saw Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) return to Hell.

However, ahead of its return to Netflix, the stars of the show have already been dropping some hints about how it will all end.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight back in January stars Tom Ellis and DB Woodside teased the ending.

When asked if the series would have a happy ending, Ellis replied: “I think there is a happy ending.

“I think my favourite stories have always been stories that the message at the end is hope.

“And so I think we’re pushing somewhere towards that on this.”

Ellis was not the only one to drop some hints about what will happen, with Amenadiel star Woodside also weighing in.

When asked about how he feels about the finale, he replied to the publication: “I think the ending is fantastic.

“I think it’s fantastic. I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people.

“I don’t think it’s going to be the ending that everyone necessarily assumes it could be but I don’t think it’s going to be the kind of ending where people are disappointed.

“I think people are really going to be surprised and it’s going to be the perfect type of ending for Lucifer.”

When pushed on whether he thought it was a happy ending, he added: “I would say that it’s happyish.”

Aside from these teases, there are also some hints about what might be coming in the episode titles for the final few outings.

The showrunners have confirmed the final episode will be called A Chance at a Happy Ending.

Although the titles for episode 14 and 15 are Nothing Lasts Forever and Is This Really How it’s Going to End?

Both of these do not sound as promising for fans who will be anxious to find out what they mean.

There is also the possibility season five will not be the final outing for Lucifer.

This comes after there were talks in place for Netflix to renew the show for season six back in February.

However, these rumours have gone quiet since then after reports some of the contracts might have fallen through.

Therefore, it seems fans will just have to keep patiently waiting to see what the future holds for Lucifer.

Lucifer season 5 will be released on Netflix soon.
