Who is in the cast of Midsomer Murders series 22?
DCI John Barnaby – Neil Dudgeon
John Barnaby will be returning to the series for his 10th year, having taken over the role of detective from his cousin Tom (John Nettles).
This season will mark the occasion by introducing the estate agent who sold John and Sarah their home a decade previously.
Actor Neil Dudgeon, 60, told ITV: “This idea that we meet the estate agent again who sold us our house 10 years ago stirred these sorts of memories for myself and for Fiona [Dolman].
“You don’t really think about how long you’ve been doing it whilst you’re doing it because there is always so much to do that you don’t have a lot of time to reflect.”
Father-of-two Dudgeon is also known for his roles in Life of Riley and Roman’s Empire.
Sarah Barnaby – Fiona Dolman
Sarah Barnaby is the wife of John and in the new season, she attempts to sign the couple up for wellness classes.
Her character is played by Fiona Dolman, a Scottish actress who is married with two children.
She is also known for her roles in The Royal, Heartbeat and Ultraviolet.
DS Jamie Winter – Nick Hendrix
Jamie Winter was the third regular sergeant to work alongside John Barnaby and he is known for being a smart and witty character.
Fans are looking forward to seeing Nick Hendrix reprise his role as John’s trusted sidekick.
Speaking to ITV he said he was looking forward to working with Dudgeon again on the latest season.
He said: “The thing with Midsomer and Neil is it’s like that old friend you don’t see very often but when you do you slip straight back into the patter and banter.
“I like hanging out with Neil so it’s a nice place to be. The hardest thing is that we are all a bunch of lovely actors and like to hug and kiss, but this was the first episode where we couldn’t do any of that.”
Sadly the coronavirus restrictions have impacted many TV shows this year.
Ambrose Deddington – Griff Rhys Jones
One of the guest stars this season is Griff Rhys Jones, who will feature as Ambrose Deddington in the episode titled The Sting of Death.
The Lord is a bee enthusiast and honey producer who has survived life-threatening cancer.
Actor Jones is a 67-year-old actor and comedian who has regularly starred alongside comedy partner, Mel Smith.
He is also president of The Victorian Society and President of the charity Civic Voice.
Cooper Steinem – John Thomson
Cooper Steinem is a guest star in The Stitcher Society and actor Thomson said starring in the series was “on his bucket list”.
His character is a pub landlord and his business was thriving until an unwanted visitor makes a comeback.
Speaking to ITV, actor Thomson said: “It is in fact his wife’s brother who is an outcast, he was been banished and his return shakes up the whole community again and because it is his wife’s brother no one comes to the pub anymore.
“But Cooper isn’t the most trustworthy of people, especially when it comes to money and honesty around his good wife.”
Thomson is a 51-year-old actor and comedian known for his roles in Men Behaving Badly and Cold Feet.

Tamara wanted to be heavily involved in the family business and she is prepared to fight off any competition.
Actress Imogen Stubbs was already friends with co-star Dudgeon before his role as John Barnaby.
She said: “We did lots of shows together, he played my father a few times and we did Heartbreak House in which he was the older sea captain and I was the young Ellie Dunn and they shared this spiritual love affair.”
Rowan Yarrow- Maimie McCoy
Rowan is one of the holistic guest stars who is under the impression her business is being sabotaged.
She runs a glamping site with her husband and it has caused some controversy amongst residents.
Her character is played by Maimie McCoy – a 41-year-old actress known for her roles in The Musketeers and Van der Valk.
Izzy Silvermane- Nicola Stephenson
Izzy stars in the episode titled With Baited Breath, and she is the landlady of a pub in the village.
She is still heartbroken by the fact her daughter has failed to keep in contact for the past 10 years.
Actress Nicola Stephenson has also come across co-star Dudgeon previously, and she was thrilled to be working with him again.
She starred alongside him in the police series Out of the Blue and said he was a brilliant actor.
Stephenson is a 49-year-old actress and mother-of-two who is known for her roles in popular shows like Holby City and Emmerdale.
