Midsomer Murders is the longest-running detective drama in the UK and is still going strong today. Now into its 22nd series, a new investigation is at hand for DCI John Barnaby (played by Neil Dudgeon) and DS Jamie Winter (Nick Hendrix) to solve. Here’s everything you need to know about the cast in season 22, episode three.
Barnaby, Winter and the team are going to have their work cut out for them in this latest episode as a game takes the turn for the worst.
The official synopsis for Happy Families reads: “As the owners of Karras Games gather for a murder mystery weekend, the immersive experience takes a puzzling twist when a killer strikes for real.
“The police’s detective skills are put to the test as they are forced to solve this case on their own.”
But who is going to find themselves playing the role of a real-life victim?
Who stars in the Happy Families episode?
Eleanor Karras – Rachael Stirling
Portraying one of the owners of company Karras Games is actress Rachael Stirling.
The 44-year-old is a star of stage and screen, having been nominated twice for a Laurence Olivier Award for her work in the theatre.
In terms of her onscreen projects, Stirling has been Nancy Astley in the BBC drama Tipping the Velvet and Millie in ITV’s The Bletchley Circle.
She is currently starring as Helen in the ITV drama Hollington Drive alongside Anna Maxwell Martin.
Victor Karras – Stuart Milligan
Eleanor runs the immersive game experience with her husband Victor Karras.
He is played by Stuart Milligan who is an American actor based primarily in the UK.
Milligan has been in SantApprentice, Doctor Who: Dreamland, The Assets, Avenue 5 and Wonder Woman 1984.
Viewers will, however, recognise him best for his role as Adam Klaus in Jonathan Creek.

Hugo Welles – Adrian Edmondson
Comedian and actor Adrian Edmondson will be in Happy Families as Hugo Welles.
Little is known about his character but he may be one of the unfortunate players in the Karra Games.
He co-wrote the classic 1980s sitcoms The Young Ones and Bottom.
Some of his other television appearances include EastEnders, Death in Paradise, The Pact and Bancroft.
Helen Welles – Caroline Quentin
Hugo will be betrothed to Helen Welles, portrayed by actress Caroline Quentin.
She is another familiar face of British television having starred as Dorothy in Men Behaving Badly and Maddie Magellan in Jonathan Creek.
Quentin was also DCI Janine Lewis in the ITV drama Blue Murder.
Midsomer Murders season 22 returns Sunday on ITV.
