Money Heist has made a dramatic comeback, with the first five episodes dropping on Netflix earlier this month. The eagerly-anticipated series has been in the works for quite some time and viewers were unsure of what to expect. While some were cheering on Stockholm (played by Esther Acebo) for her actions in part one, she herself wasn’t quite as happy.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Money Heist.

Will Stockholm get left behind after PTSD battle?

Stockholm was first introduced as a secretary at the Royal Mint of Spain and was taken hostage in season one.

Prior to the show starting, Stockholm, whose real name is Monica Gaztambide, was having an affair with her boss Arturo Roman (Enrique Arce), who is deemed as one of the main villains in Money Heist.

He is sexist, abusive to women and refused to leave his wife for her so she decided to start a new life with Denver (Jaime Lorente) and the gang.

Stockholm was also pregnant at the time and so went on to have Arturo’s baby Cincinnati but raised him with Denver.

After the Royal Mint of Spain heist, Arturo used the events to his advantage and became a motivational speaker.

When the robbers went to the Bank of Spain, he voluntarily agreed to be a hostage so he could speak to Stockholm and get some more material for his talks.

As he was in the building, he injured two of his fellow hostages and sexually assaulted another.

Arturo then tries to lead a rebellion against the gang which results in a stand-off between himself and Stockholm.

He is ready to shoot her, trying to ease her from pulling the trigger with some emotional blackmail but it doesn’t work and she shoots.

Instantly feeling guilty, Stockholm desperately tries to resuscitate him and eventually, there is a pulse and he is sent to the hospital.

The last everyone hears, Arturo is in a “critical condition” in hospital and Stockholm is guilt-ridden.

She cannot comprehend how she may have killed him and so injects herself with morphine to numb the pain.

In doing so though, she allows everyone else to fight off the soldiers trying to invade the bank and plays a part in Tokyo’s (Ursula Corbero) death.

Money Heist season 5: Denver dies saving Manila as fans spot clue [THEORY]

Tokyo, Denver and Manila (Belén Cuesta) were stuck in the kitchen with nowhere obvious to escape as the soldiers were after them.

Stockholm was too drugged up to point out that there was a dumbwaiter shaft they could go through but as Tokyo was already injured, there wasn’t enough time to get her safely out of there as well.

If Stockholm didn’t take the morphine, then maybe she would have been more alert and gave her team the heads up earlier on in order to avoid any deaths.

Many fans took to Twitter to share their anger at Stockholm for her actions.

Subscribers labelled her as “annoying” and “stupid” for what she did, while another said they would have preferred if it was Stockholm that was killed off and not Tokyo.

One fan tweeted: “I blame Tokyo’s death on Stockholm. If she did not take that morphine, she could have heard Tokyo’s team voices from the top earlier. Gosh very sad.”

With Stockholm not helping the gang fight against the army and her actions partly leading to the death of one of their members, will the Salvador Dalí gang turn their backs on her?

Money Heist is available to watch on Netflix.
