Morning Live's Sara and Gethin clash over how to eat a croissant – but have you been doing it all wrong?

MORNING Live's Sara Davies and Gethin Jones clashed over how to eat a croissant today.

The Dragon's Den star joined Gethin, 44, to host today's BBC show and in the opening moments they told viewers there would be a segment later on about how the delicious French pastry is made.

Gethin said: "They're the warm and flaky French pastry that can make a bit of a mess if they're made perfectly, and in around 20 minutes time Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace goes to the South of France and inside the factory to find out how ice and a butter sandwich make croissants so delicious."

He then told viewers: "There's a rumour going around the Morning Live office this morning that it's acceptable to put butter on your croissant.

"Now, I'm totally against this…Sara Davies?"

Sara, 37, replied: "That's what you do and do you know I've got a really big tip for everybody.

"So, if you cut your croissant before you warm it up, it's going to cut a little bit easier, then when you spread your button on it melts in."

Gethin said: "But it's the butter on the croissant I've got a problem with."

Turning to Dr. Ranj and Nancy Birtwhistle, Sara said: "No, no, no, come on guys back me up, butter on a croissant, it's amazing!"

But she didn't get the answer she wanted as Dr. Ranj said: "They're made of butter though."

Gethin was delighted and called: "Thank you Ranj! You are always welcome here!"

Where as Nancy said: "Just apricot jam, that's all the need. No butter."

A smug Gethin said: "I think I'm going to win this argument today."

It isn't the first time Gethin and one of his co-hosts have disagreed about food.

Earlier this month, Gethin and Kym Marsh clashed over whether it was acceptable to put brown sauce on a bacon sandwich.

Morning Live airs weekdays at 9.15am on BBC One.
