Power Book II: Ghost returned for season two last month, once again following the life of Tariq St Patrick (played by Michael Rainey Jr). He has made himself plenty of enemies since the Starz spin-off began, including defence attorney Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson). And once again, Tariq managed to get the better of Saxe which left him in a downward spiral in the series one finale.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Power Book II: Ghost season 2.
In the original Power series, Saxe was determined to put dodgy club owner James “Ghost” St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) behind bars.
But as he was murdered by his own son, the attorney never got the chance to.
Since then, he has been desperate to get justice for Tariq’s crimes instead but his tunnel vision for wanting to see the youngster pay for his crimes got in the way.
In the series finale of Power Book II season one, Saxe was fired, causing him to turn to drink.
This is when fellow lawyer Davis Maclean (Method Man) steps in and offers Saxe a way out.
Speaking about his character Saxe’s situation, actor Shane Johnson told Express.co.uk: “It’s awful for Saxe. He is basically trying to drown his problems in whisky and accept the notion of working with his family who completely take Cooper as a joke.
“Working with the family would be admitting defeat, so when Maclean approaches, it is a way to live to fight another day!
“I feel the dynamic between these two characters is fantastic and my scenes with Method Man are some of my favourites.”
When the original Power drama came to an end, creator Courtney Kemp and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson weren’t shy about the show’s future.
They stated there would be plenty more to come in the shape of four new spin-off shows.
The first of which was Power Book II: Ghost, followed by the prequel Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
Next year, Power Book IV: Force, starring Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan will begin and then Power Book V: Influence which revolves around Councilman Tate (Larenz Tate).

While Kemp hasn’t announced any further plans for more spin-off shows, actor Johnson said he could see the potential for another series around Saxe and Maclean.
When asked about appearing in any of the other spin-offs, Johnson explained: “I certainly hope Saxe pops up in other spin-offs. That would be so much fun.
“Working with Joe Sikora again would be so gratifying.
“As to getting my own spin-off? I firmly believe that Saxe and Maclean could have a spin-off together.
“One which really challenges the lengths to which they will bend the law to suit their needs and one which questions their motives and keeps them at odds with one another as they seek their respective self-serving goals,” Johnson added.
Power Book II will continue on Sunday, December 12 on Starz and Starzplay in the UK.
No details have been released so far about episode four apart from the fact it is called Gettin’ These Ends.
Power Book II: Ghost season 2 continues every Sunday on Starz in the US and Starzplay in the UK.
