Regina King Dumbfounded to Being Tipped as Possible Director of Black Superman Movie
The ‘One Night in Miami…’ helmer appears to be flabbergasted when learning that she is rumored to be on the shortlist to direct the recently-announced reboot.
AceShowbiz –Regina King has responded to rumors that she is being considered to be a director for an upcoming Superman film for Warner Bros. and DC. Claiming to have never heard the news before, the actress/director appeared to be flabbergasted when she was asked for her comment on the reports.
Tiffany Cross of “The Cross Connection” brought it up during an MSNBC interview on Saturday, May 29. “I’m curious, because this is a little bit of gossip. According to The Hollywood Reporter, WB is looking for a black actor to portray the titular character as sources told the site that “Warners and DC are committed to hiring a black director to tackle what will be the first cinematic incarnation of Superman featuring a black actor.”
Along with King and Jenkins, Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed II“), J.D. Dillard (“Sleight“, “Sweetheart“) and Shaka King (“Judas and the Black Messiah“) are allegedly among potential candidates to direct the movie. Some of them have reportedly met with the studio, while Marvel is said to be vying for same names on the list for its.
