Remote cottage on the Isle of Harris goes on sale for the first time in 15 years

Okay, so your commute might become a bit of a trek.

And sure, you won’t have as many UberEats options.

But we reckon the incredible sea views from every room make this cottage on the Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides, worth the £275,000 asking price.

This is the first time in 15 years that the three-bedroom property has been on the market, too, so it’s a pretty rare opportunity.

The house sits just a short walk from Scarista beach and offers gorgeous views of sand and sea.

It was seen in several episodes of the 2000 BBC show, Castaway, which saw participants try to build a new community from scratch.

If you’re after a fresh start away from all the busyness of your current life, then, this could be the place to do it.

Inside, the house features wood-panelled walls, four fireplaces, and antique features such as doors.

There are two floors, with the dining and kitchen room on the bottom level, along with a bathroom, a bedroom, and a sitting room, then two further bedrooms and a second bathroom upstairs.

The cottage stands on 0.34 acres of land and is close to the village of Northton, which has a cafe and visitors’ centre.

Phiddy Robertson from Galbraith, who are selling the cottage, said: ‘8 Scaristavore is a charming traditional cottage retaining many original features.

‘The property, which is coming to the market for the first time in 15 years, has been well-maintained and offers spacious accommodation in an idyllic location within walking distance of the beautiful Scarista beach.

‘Properties on the Outer Hebrides always attract significant interest from buyers due to the sense of space and superb natural beauty the isles offer.

‘Harris is the ultimate get away from it all destination.’
