Ridley Road's Tamzin Outhwaite, 50, reveals why she refuses to marry boyfriend Tom Child, 30, after ex cheated on her

RIDLEY Road's Tamzin Outhwaite has revealed why she has refused to marry her boyfriend Tom Child.

The actress, 50 – who plays Barbara in the BBC One drama – started dating the documentary maker, 30, since 2018.

Although they've been together three years, they are in no rush to take their relationship to the next level.

She previously told Fabulous magazine that she moved Tom in after getting approval off her daughters Florence, 13, and nine-year-old Marnie.

The youngsters were over the moon with the new family dynamics, but told their mum that they don't want her to get hitched.

Tamzin said: "My daughters were excited by him moving in, but they wouldn’t like us to get married — they’d hate that.

“They always say, ‘You two are not getting married’. They don’t like the idea of it, but that’s fine because we’re not desperate to do it.

“I feel like I’ve done it so I’m not that bothered really.

"It’s a very liberating place to be when you don’t need to get married and you don’t need to have kids.

“I do feel much freer than I’ve felt in life, and at the same time being in a very loving relationship. You could say I’ve got the best of both worlds really.”

Tamzin shares her two daughters with actor Tom Ellis, 42, who is best known for playing Gary in BBC sitcom Miranda.

The pair tied the knot in 2006 but got divorced seven years later in 2014.

They were their separate ways after it Tamzin found out that her husband had a short affair with Australian actress Emilie de Ravin.

Tom and Emilie met in Los Angeles while filming for fantasy drama Once Upon a Time.

The former EastEnders star now lives in the US with his wife Meaghan Oppenheimer, who he wed in 2019.

Tamzin caught the eye of new boyfriend Tom back in 2017 after attending the same yoga class.

And she doesn't mind their 20-year age gap.

Tamzin said on Lorraine last year: "I tell you what it is, when you get to this age, you stop caring what people think.

"I think that's a really important place to get to, because now the only opinions that matter are my two girls and if they adore him, which they do… that's all I need."
