Rod Stewart heartbroken by death of second brother in two months as singer says he's lost his 'two best mates' | The Sun

ROD Stewart has told of his heartbreak following the death of his second brother.

The rocker took to Instagram to share the tragic news with his 1.2m followers.

He wrote: "It’s with great sadness that I announce the loss of my brother Bob last night, who joins my brother Don on the great football pitch in the sky.

"I’ve lost two of my best mates in the space of two months.

"RIP Don and Bob ‘irreplaceable buddies’."

Fans and fellow celebrities flocked to the comments to offer their sympathies.

Actress Sharon Stone said: "I’m terribly sorry for your loss my friend."

Piers Morgan put: "How sad… deepest condolences to you all. RIP Bob."

Meanwhile, one fan wrote: "I'm so, so sorry to hear more sad news from your lovely family.

"I only had the pleasure of meeting Bob a couple of times, but he was always so nice and had a great sense of humour. Sending lots of love to you and your family."

A third added: "Our deepest sympathy Sir Rod, such a difficult time for you. Losing your two mates is heartbreaking.

"Know that they are in our prayers."

Earlier this year, the singer lost his brother Don – just two days before the death of the Queen.

Sir Rod, who is married to model Penny Lancaster, said in September: "It has been a devastating 48 hours.

"We lost my brother Don on Tuesday at 94 and today we have all lost Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 96."

Last night marked Rod's return to Glasgow's OVO Hydro – almost 10 years after he officially opened the venue.

The rocker is performing two shows at Scotland’s biggest indoor music venue this week.
