Simon Cowell's son Eric, 7, cycles to the beach as the BGT judge recovers from 6 hour surgery after horror bike accident

SIMON Cowell's son Eric and his mum Lauren Silverman hit the beach to help them get their minds off his intense spine surgery.

Lauren, 43, opted for a casual beach look in white shorts and matching sun hat as she took her son for a swim.

She topped off the look with a cotton striped t-shirt as she carried a large tote bag of Eric's beach goodies and a boogie board.

Eric loved splashing about in the waves wearing a black wetsuit as him mum looked on lovingly.

Later, he got changed into a t-shirt and shorts to ride to the nearby shops with his nanny.

After his dad's horrific electric bike accident, Eric was sure to put safety first and wore a black helmet while he was riding.

The mum and son headed out to the beach as Simon recuperated from a gruelling six hour surgery.

The X Factor judge, 60, suffered a broken back in the accident earlier this month and will need a long time to recover.

Simon is lucky not to be paralysed after breaking his back in three places in a fall from his electric bike.

He missed injuring his spinal cord by a centimetre.

Simon fell and broke his back after trying out a powerful new electric bike — and accidentally pulling a wheelie.

Eric and Lauren’s teenage lad Adam watched in horror as Simon fell backwards and smashed down on to a concrete floor at his Los Angeles home.

Doctors had to insert a metal rod in his spine after breaking three vertebrae.

After his surgery Simon broke his silence on his horrific accident.

He wrote on Twitter: " Some good advice…

"If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.

"I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.."

Simon has vowed he’ll be back to his best from spinal surgery — after being dubbed The Terminator.

He was pictured for the first time last week since his release from hospital as he was driven through LA in his Rolls-Royce.

In trademark aviator shades, Simon looked tired and uncomfortable as he reclined in his seat on the way back to UCLA Medical Centre.

Simon, worth an estimated £400million, had hoped to return to work imminently by recording segments to appear in the BGT semi-final but has decided to delay his public comeback.

Simon aims to be back for the final of America’s Got Talent on September 24.
