SINEAD O'Connor has slammed a hospital trust after her teenage son died two days after being reported missing.

The singer has claimed that Tallaght Hospital, in Dublin, were “refusing to take any responsibility” after Shane went missing.

Heartbroken mum Sinead, 55, confirmed that the teenager had died and described him as the “light of my life”.

Paying tribute to him she said: "My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.

"May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace."

Police had previously issued an appeal for the missing teen, who vanished on Thursday.

They renewed their appeal to find Shane who was last seen in Tallaght, South Dublin, Ireland, on Friday.

His mum, who has three other children, begged for him to go to the cops himself and not to cause any harm to himself.

But horrified Sinead has now slammed the Lynn Ward at the hospital for not doing more for the troubled teen.

She said: “How has a seventeen year old traumatised young person, who was on suicide watch, in Tallaght Hospital’s Lynn Ward been able to go missing???

“Hospital of course so far refusing to take any responsibility. Anything happens to my son on their watch? Lawsuits.”

The singer has threatened to sue the hospital if anything indicates that they may have been able to prevent his tragic death.

In a statement the hospital said: "The HSE cannot comment on individual cases when to do so might reveal information in relation to identifiable individuals, breaching the ethical requirement on us to observe our duty of confidentiality."

At the time she went missing, the worried mum begged for her son to come home.

She said: “Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing.

My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.

"My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop it from beating. Please don’t harm yourself. Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital.

"This is a message for my son, Shane. Shane, it’s not funny anymore all this going missing. You are scaring the crap out of me.

“Could you please do the right thing and present yourself at a Gardai station. If you are with Shane please call the Gardai for his safety".

Former Pogues singer's Shane MacGowan paid tribute to the teen, saying: "Sinead you have always been there for me and for so many people, you have been a comfort & a soul who is not afraid to feel the pain of the suffering.

"You have always tried to heal & help. I pray that you can be comforted & find strength, healing & peace in your own sorrow & loss.

"He was a beautiful boy and I loved him. I pray that he can be at peace and also be able to stay connected with you. Love Shane."

Police today confirmed the news with a spokesman saying: "Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday, 7th January 2022, a Missing Person Appeal in respect of Shane O'Connor, 17 years, has been stood down."
