Stacey Solomon leaps to Gemma Atkinson's defence after actress is mum-shamed by cruel trolls

STACEY Solomon today leapt to Gemma Atkinson's defence after she was mum-shamed by cruel trolls.

Gemma, 35, faced a barrage of abuse after she posted a video of herself working out in front of her one-year-old daughter Mia.

In the sweet clip, the actress can be seen on a cross trainer as her toddler watches on.

But some fans slammed her for this, with one cruel fan claimning Mia was the "last thing" on Gem's mind and she should "take a leaf out of Stacey Solomon's book" when it comes to parenting.

Gemma shared this nasty jibe, and Stacey immediately leapt to her defence.

Sharing Gemma's post, kindhearted Stacey wrote: "Marie, Marie, Marie where do I start. It might shock you to know that sometimes just sometimes I might put myself first."

She went on: "Some days I chose Peaky Blinders over Pepper Pig. Crisp over carrots, and sometimes I just lock myself in the toilet and pretend I am doing the longest poo in the world to get some me time.

"Gemma you are smashing it. Keep being the amazing mum to the woman you are raising."

She ended with: "Hold your head high and take no notice of anyone who tries to drag you down.

"Women supporting women and mothers supporting mothers is so important."

It comes as Gemma recently opened up on how she deals with nasty comments from trolls during an interview with Women's Health.

The actress revealed she was called 'fat' by a follower recently as old episodes of Hollyoaks were back on screen.

Asked how she reacts to trolls, Gemma revealed one Hollyoaks fan messaged her after watching a throwback episode – and they were far from complimentary.

She said: "For Hollyoaks turning 25 years old, they’ve been re-running some episodes, and they’ve had a week of my episodes, and people have actually DM’d me," the mum-of-one explained.

"A guy DM’d me, and he said, 'wow, I never realised at the time, but you were fat in Hollyoaks weren’t you?'

"I went back to him and I said, 'well, I was 15, so I was chubbier than what I am now, but please, please don’t let your daughter think that that’s your idea of fat… she will have problems for the rest of her life if that’s the case'."

Commenting on her weight gain during her Strictly Come Dancing appearance in 2017, she said: "I think I’m the only contestant who gained weight during Strictly and I always say that openly because the training is hard.

"It’s intense, but because I train differently anyway, my body kind of went backwards a bit and the main reason was because I let me diet slip massively on Strictly."

Gemma continued: "We trained above the Cadbury’s shop, so I had a Toblerone nearly every day, fast food, anything that was just quick and easy really…I think I put on about six or seven pounds by the end of it."
