Strictly Come Dancing viewers saw the first couple leave the competition on Sunday night. Katie McGlynn and Gorka Marquez found themselves in the dance-off alongside Nina Wadia and Neil Jones. The couples were the lowest scoring out of all the contestants and had to dance again in the hope of keeping their place in the competition. While Katie survived the dance-off this week, eagle-eyed fans reckon she’ll be next to go.

Katie and Gorka danced a Jive to Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo on Saturday night, but some viewers noticed some tension between the duo.

Several Strictly fans took to Twitter after seeing them perform, to comment on their lack of chemistry.

“Gorka looked really annoyed and Katie was barely clapping. I thought they seemed a bit off with each other last week but this week it was really obvious,” @corinisamazing wrote.

@sashaholly_ commented: “Gorka and Katie DO NOT like each other #Strictly.”

“Her and Gorka look like they can’t stand each other, I don’t think it’ll be too long before they’re off the show,” @Erinbur27654454 wrote.

“Ok. I’m going to say it… There seems to be a weird vibe between Katie McGlynn and Gorka on #strictly. Not a ‘sexy’ vibe but a discomfort or a niggle… picked up on it last week and there it was again tonight. Weird, right?” @Angeloola76 said.

@AmiDingle added: “How utterly rude can @KatiexMcGlynn be towards the lovely @gorkamarquez1, get yourself some manners @KatiexMcGlynn and work WITH your partner. #appallingbehaviour,#dive,#sourface.”

On Sunday night the pair found themselves in the bottom two against Nina and Neil.

As a result, they had to perform their Jive once again in a bid to please the judges and keep their place in the competition.

After watching the couples dance again, the judges gave their final verdicts.

Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Katie and Gorka, saying: “Katie, you really kept the energy up all the way through to the end with lots of retraction.”

Motsi Mabuse was next to share her thoughts and also voted to save Katie and Gorka from elimination.

Things took a turn when Anton Du Beke chose to save Nina and Neil, commenting: “The one who upped their game and performed the best I think was Nina and Neil.”

As a result, the final decision as to who should leave the competition came down to Head Judge Shirley Ballas.

“This is one of the closest battles I think we’ve ever had in a dance-off,” she said, before choosing to save Katie and Gorka.

However, some viewers disagreed with the judges choice to save Katie and Gorka, taking to Twitter to complain.

“Katie’s jive was awful. Stilted and awkward, yet she stays. I’ll never understand the judging on #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly but then again, I can’t even do the Conga without falling over,” @KirstyEvans1208 said.

@iamtribz Tweeted: “#strictly Such a shame to see Nina go first. She brought so much character to her first dance. I thought she’d be around for just a little longer than that. Totally agree that Katie should have got the boot instead. That was an awful jive.”

Despite the thoughts of some viewers, Gorka and Katie made it through to the next week of the competition.

They’ll return on Strictly Come Dancing next weekend with a film-themed performance for Movie Week.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6:45pm on BBC One.
