Strictly dancers have had to pretend theyre happy with partners, claims star

Strictly dancers have had to pretend they’re happy with celeb partners on the hit show, it is claimed.

The professionals always look thrilled when it’s revealed who they will be dancing with.

But Scott Mills claims some of them fake joy for the cameras – despite being secretly miserable.

The DJ was a contestant in 2014 and says he saw what really went on.

Speaking on Radio 5 Live, he said: "On my series there were some dancers who weren’t happy with their celebrities. But it was never seen on screen."

Scott’s co-host Chris Stark is convinced many of the reactions are faked.

He said: "One of the things that gets me is when the contestant meets the dancer for the first time and they both have to pretend that they would have chosen each other.

"The chances that every contestant has been linked with exactly the right dancer and that dancer has been linked with exactly the right contestant is mind-boggling. You have got more chance of winning the lottery.

"It’s the lying, going, 'You are exactly who I wanted'."

There have been clashes between pro dancers and celebs on the show over the years.

Pop legend Lulu did not get on with her professional Strictly dancer partner Brendan Cole.

After their series, she said: “I worked with someone with whom I wasn’t really compatible, so that was very hard."

Presenter Fiona Phillips also clashed with Brenda.

Last year she said: "Brendan was a real bugger, actually. He wasn’t very nice. He was really naughty."

This year’s series includes a string of big names including Kym Marsh, Will Mellor, Matt Goss and Helen Skelton.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will return as hosts while Anton Du Beke re-joins the line-up of judges alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and BBCiPlayer
