Strictlys rumoured line up for 2022 – Scarlett Moffatt to Holly Willoughby
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to our screens in the autumn, which might seem like forever away – but rumours are already swirling around potential contestants for the 2022 series.
It has been reported that the line up has been finalised ahead of the autumn launch, which means celebrities will be busy negotiating their contracts and gearing up to ballroom dance like never before.
In a matter of months we'll know for sure who is set to take part, because the summer months sees the BBC announce the new cast.
The 2022 series is set to be completely different to any other series because professional dancer Oti Mabuse has quit seven years, and Anton du Beke is to take over judging from Bruno Tonioli.
If you can't wait until the summer to find out which celebs will be taking part though, join us with a little bit of dreaming.. because we've compiled a list of the celebrities we'd most like to see compete who have all hinted at it before.
Last year the brunette Gogglebox beauty spoke out about taking part in Strictly Come Dancing when she said: "Loads of people keep saying this.
"The Strictly people think I'm this pro dancer because I do a few dances on TikTok.
"I think everyone thinks I'm a professional dancer."
She told Heart Radio at the time: "I just love dancing. It just makes you feel happy. Anything that makes you feel happy, I would sign myself up for.
"I would love that, but I'm a qualified dance teacher so I feel like I've got a bit of an advantage!
"People don't like it when people can already dance on that show. They want to see a journey. That's the thing about TV – they want to see a journey."
Back in 2020 Holly Willoughby hinted that she would love to appear on the popular BBC dancing competition.
Strictly professional Giovanni Pernice appeared on This Morning back in 2020 when he brought up the possibility of Holly taking part.
The interview kicked off with Holly asking Giovanni: "Do you have a hit list of celebrities you would like to dance with?"
Phillip then pointed at the blonde beauty and Holly said: "They (the producers) keep saying in my ear ‘are they waiting for him to say you?’ – yes!"
She then added: "You know I love the show, I am a massive fan."
Giovanni then said: "I think you would be great on there."
Louis Theroux might best known for being a British-American documentary filmmaker, journalist, broadcaster, podcaster and author – but he's previously hinted that he's quite like to have a go at dancing.
"I like to do something like that once in a while. You have to pick it carefully. I've seen (The Masked Singer). I haven’t got a brilliant voice, I’ve got a very narrow range in which I can hold a tune."
"I like to think I’m a good dancer. I know I’ve had too many drinks when I’m in the kitchen dancing while listening to something on the smart speaker – often hip-hop – and I start doing the funky robot and then I start doing MC Hammer spins.
"And that’s where it happens and I start thinking I should really go on Strictly."
Lady Colin Campbell
The former I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star has previously hinted at appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
When discussing a potential offer from Strictly with The Express, she said: "I will consider anything that pays enough to assist with the running of Castle Goring."
"I make no bones about it. I do all the public appearances, I do them purely for Castle Goring.
"That's why I say I'm, 'Whoring for Goring' because if it wasn't for Goring, you wouldn't see me for dust except when I write a book."
Joséphine Jobert is a French actress and singer, best known for playing Detective Sergeant Florence Cassell in the BBC One series Death in Paradise.
Previously a fan asked the star if she was taking part in the dancing competition after rumours spiralled.
Taking to Instagram to clear things up the 36-year-old actress said: "Well… I have to say that Google knows things about me that I don't even know about myself. It's interesting!"
As well as her cryptic Instagram message, she and co-star, Tahj Miles, once said they'd be interested in taking part.
When a fan posed the question to the duo Tahj said: "I can't really dance. I mean I can, I can follow instructions, but I wouldn't be the best."
He then said that he's be up for it, which led Joséphine to say: "Yeah me too, we should do it together, we'd win it together!"
Yes, the former Spider Man actor has agreed to take part in Strictly.. well, kind of.
He previously said that he would happily compete in the dancing competition if he wins the Academy Award for Tick Tick Boom.
When he appeared on BBC's The Graham Norton Show he said: "It’s hard to confess this. I would love to do Strictly – it’s on the bucket list.”
He then told Johannes Radebes who was also on the show: “If I win the Oscar, then I’ll come and do it."
Dawn French who appeared on the show that night then added: “You’re saying that as if Johannes can make that happen.”
Tom Malone Jr
Another Gogglebox favourite, Tom Malone Jr has expressed his interest in starring on Strictly in the past.
Speaking to the Express he said: "Ideally I'd love to be involved in both dance and TV, to some capacity in the future.
"Whether that was presenting dance shows or judging on dance shows or something.
"I'd definitely be interested in doing something in TV still, but that is still kind of attached to dance. Those two things I enjoy a lot, I've danced since I was six. If the opportunity came up to go on Strictly as a contestant, I've never done Ballroom in my life, so it'd be interesting to see how as someone who breaks.
"I'm used to dancing upside down, how those two worlds could come together, and, how I could use skills from breaking in Ballroom or if there is even anything you can use from breaking in Ballroom."
