The Expanse has just premiered its final chapter in the epic science-fiction saga. Fans have loved the show for its space opera storytelling and compelling sci-fi concepts. It has often been compared to Mass Effect, the video game franchise that has been reported to be receiving a TV adaption on Amazon Prime Video. Shohreh Aghdashloo is a star of both and told Express.co.uk she’s open to returning.

In November reports came from Deadline that Amazon Prime was in the early stages of developing a Mass Effect TV series.

Based on the iconic games of the same name, the two franchises share many similarities.

One of the connections between the two is the star, Shohreh Aghdashloo.

In The Expanse, she plays Chrisjen Avasarala, the leader of the United Nations of Earth and representative for the planet.

In Mass Effect, she voices Admiral Shala’Raan, one of the leaders of the Quarian race.

The details on the Mass Effect TV series remain limited, with the show still unconfirmed by Amazon Prime.

However, there have been reports on either a show or film based on the property for years, with Aghdashloo sharing her love for the franchise in an interview with Express.co.uk.

When asked whether she would return to the franchise or reprise her character for the TV show, Aghdashloo gave an enthusiastic answer.

“Yes, absolutely,” Aghdashloo explained, adding: “I enjoy doing those games and sometimes, to tell you the truth, the lines I was doing were so familiar to The Expanse.

“One time, while I was taping lines in Toronto, during shooting The Expanse, I thought to myself, ‘oh my gosh, these are so similar to my lines from Mass Effect.’

“Everybody laughed because we were trying to tell the same story.”

Aghdashloo then went on to admit that one of the reasons she loved portraying her character in Mass effect was because she didn’t “have to wear makeup”.

“The sky is my limit,” Aghdashloo continued before adding: “I can do whatever I like [while recording] behind those closed doors without being afraid of being on camera.”

As for The Expanse, season six is the last chapter of the story, though Aghdashloo is more optimistic the show will continue in the future.

Amazon Prime confirmed that season six was the final, yet fans have noted that it is based on a series of books by author James S A Corey, of which there are nine.

Season six adapts book six, leaving the potential of three novels worth of storytelling to explore for the showrunners.

Aghdashloo said: “There are three more novels, seven, eight, nine, but I honestly don’t know what kind of feeling should have right now.

“On one hand, I feel sort of sorrow in my heart, like bittersweet to end this.

“On the other hand, I feel like this is not the end, the saga continues and we need the rest of the story to be told.”

The Expanse seasons 1-6 are available to watch exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
