Then Barbara Met Alan was first announced in mid-2021, with the BBC only providing concrete details on the film in December.

Currently, there is no firm release date but it’s likely the film will drop in early summer, 2022, as it is in the post-production stage of development.

Filming in London is already complete, so it won’t be long before the BBC confirms the premiere date.

It has been co-written by Bafta-winning screenwriter Jack Thorne and actor-turned-writer Genevieve Barr.

They wanted to bring a true story of two activists to the screen, sharing their struggles and story for viewers to discover for the first time.

Set in the late 1980s to early 1990s, the film showcases an important turning point in the campaign for disabled civil rights.

Leading the cast are Ruth Madeley and Arthur Hughes as Barbara Lisicki and Alan Holdsworth, respectively.

Their actions led to some major strides being made, which reached all the way to the top of government.
