University Challenge fans call out major blunder on show – with a heart-breaking twist | The Sun
UNIVERSITY Challenge viewers were all left calling out the show over a serious question blunder that came with a devastating twist.
Viewers of the BBC Two quizzing show watched on as Jeremy Paxman saw teams from Southampton and Durham faced-off as they attempted to win the round.
However fans of the show at home were all left puzzled at an outdated question which came with a heartbreaking twist.
The team were asked by Jeremy: "Assuming that everyone in the line of succession to the British crown chooses to reign under their primary, given name, what would be the regnal number of the person currently third in line for the throne?"
Belcher, from Southampton, responded with the roman numerical value of "the seventh" as Jeremy told him it was correct giving the full answer of "George the Seventh."
Whilst it is correct that George would be known as the seventh upon his accession to the throne, the information on the programme is outdated following the tragic passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

The episode of the BBC Two programme were recorded before she passed in September therefore allowing the given answer to be correct.
Has the programme been filmed after she died, the correct answer would've been Princess Charlotte as the third in line.
Viewers of the show were quick to pick up on this as they took to Twitter to attempt to clear up the confusion.
One wrote online: "3rd in line. Was this filmed before last September? Otherwise it'd be Charlotte I."
