Virgin River fans were thrilled to hear the romance drama series on Netflix had been renewed for another season back in December 2020. There is still plenty of speculation surrounding who shot Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson) at his bar. Fans are starting to wonder whether the season three release has been delayed.
Has Virgin River season 3 been delayed?
Virgin River is best loved for its picturesque backdrops and relatable characters, and of course, there is plenty of drama.
At the end of the second season, Jack Sheridan was found severely wounded by nurse Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) at his own bar.
The cliffhanger left fans wondering who had wanted Jack dead, and season three will explore who was responsible.
News of the 10-episode third season was announced in December 2020, and a couple of new casting announcements followed.
Zibby Allen was cast as Jack’s sister Brie Sheridan, a series regular, and Stacey Farber was cast in a recurring role.
There has been some delay regarding the release of the third season, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Filming for the second season began in September 2019 and ended in December 2019, with new episodes arriving in November 2020.
Thankfully, news has emerged that filming has now resumed on the third season.
A Virgin River Instagram post included a behind-the-scenes photo of Hope McRae (Annette O’Toole) and Lilly (Lynda Boyd).
The post said: “Hope and Lilly, a friendship we should all have in our lives! #virginriver #virginriverseries #virginrivernetflix #netflix #frienship”.
Filming on season three is believed to have started between August and December of 2020.
Honknews.com said: “With production complete, the show is rumoured to be in post-production with Netflix working hard to place the finishing touches on the season before its release.
“Taken we’re expecting a busy concluding some months of the year, Netflix strength wonders spectators with a late Summer 2021 release for season three.
“However, it seems more likely that we’ll once more be watching a late November or early December release as Netflix tends to love releasing new seasons shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday.”
An official release date for the third instalment has still not been announced.
Hopefully, the new season will arrive before the end of 2021, providing fans with the perfect Christmas gift.
They took to Instagram to express their excitement following the latest update, with one saying: “Aw I can’t wait to watch more of this show.”
Another said: “Sooooo looking forward to series 3. Oh yeah!” With a third adding: “Can’t wait for the new season *trying to be patient*”.
Viewers are interested to see how Mel and Jack’s relationship develops with all the trauma that has taken place.
Jack’s ex-girlfriend Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), is still of the belief her unborn twins are Jack’s.
With this in mind, there will be plenty of drama still to unfold as Jack’s life takes a difficult turn.
The Virgin River Instagram account has been dropping hints about what can be expected, and they shared a photo of young couple Ricky (Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey) and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale).
The pair were seen standing at the edge of a jetty, and Lizzie appeared to be holding a piece of paper.
The caption said: “Before the cameras roll then we see love in the air!”
One fan responded: “We need some new behind the scenes pictures,” and it seems the show has now delivered.
Virgin River is on Netflix.
