Fans of Virgin River will have to wait at least another month for news on its release. After a cliffhanger ending to season two, fans were looking forward to finding out what happens to their favourites this June. However much like the previous seasons, it’s looking like it’ll be an end-of-year release.
In the last season of the romantic drama, Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins (played by Tim Matheson) had some difficult news to tell his longtime partner Hope (Annette O’Toole) regarding his recent health check-up.
However, as they approached their home their loved ones were hiding inside for their surprise re-engagement party.
The all-important update was interrupted by the party-goers, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
The on and off again couple, have been separated for more than 20 years and with things finally looking up for them, Doc’s health news could potentially complicate things for them.

Elsewhere in the Northern California town, Melinda ‘Mel’ Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) stumbled upon her boyfriend Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) bleeding out in his bar from a suspected gunshot wound.
This could be the biggest cliffhanger in Virgin River, as this storyline could become the biggest whodunnit in season three.
The bar owner and former US marine has had a complicated relationship with Mel, as when she first arrived in the town he took interest. However, she was still mourning the death of her husband.
When the pair eventually got together, Jack’s ex-girlfriend Charmaine Roberts (Lauren Hammersley) revealed she was pregnant with his twins.
With these storylines, it’s no wonder fans of the show are eagerly waiting for season three.
Despite the news Virgin River won’t air in June, it could definitely be on our screens later this year.
In December, Netflix took to social media to officially announce that the show filming would be filming the third instalment of this series.
Fans were thrilled with the news with one posting on Twitter: “Such great news. Can’t wait to watch S3 next year. Looking forward to seeing Mel and Jack in S3”

In the past showrunners have been fast to start production of a new series.
This resulted in season two being released less than a year after season one, which means production would’ve started almost immediately after the first ended.
If showrunners continue this pattern then fans could expect season three before the end of 2021.
Hopefully, fans can look forward to an announcement with a date in the upcoming months as the cliffhangers need to be answered.
