Wendy Williams Time Slot May Be Replaced With Nick Cannons Show as She Fails to Sign Contract
Amid her battle with ‘serious’ health complications, it’s reported that her daytime talk show’s time slot may be replaced with ‘The Nick Cannon Show’, but it depends on her talk show’s ratings.
AceShowbiz –Wendy Williams‘ talk show is getting closer to being replaced with Nick Cannon‘s show. As the daytime diva, who is currently on the mend amid her concerning health condition, “fails” to sign a new contract, it’s reported that “The Nick Cannon Show” would be next in line for the coveted 10 A.M. slot.
“If the ‘The Wendy Williams Show‘ ends or she doesn’t come back to the show, they would feel comfortable sliding Nick into the 10 A.M. slot,” a source spilled to The Sun on Wednesday, November 10. The source noted that the slot “immediately follows the local news broadcast.”
The informant further noted that it’s “the plan for filling the time in the New York market.” The insider stressed, “Other stations around the country that similarly carry both shows back-to-back will likely follow New York’s lead.” Earlier in October, it’s first reported that Nick may potentially take over Wendy’s time slots if she doesn’t return to her daytime show.
In the meantime, a separate source said that there still has not been any news of a renewal for “The Wendy Williams Show” beyond this season and that distribution executives are likely to be waiting to see how ratings are if and when she returns. “It really all depends on what her ratings look like at that point. Right now, they’ve been stronger than expected without her,” the second insider explained.
A day earlier, it’s reported that Wendy is “getting better” and “making her own decisions as she sees fits.” A separate source also said that the 57-year-old TV hostess “is not getting worse.”
On November 8, Wendy herself addressed her absence from the daytime show in a statement she posted via Instagram. “HOW YOU DOIN’? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic. I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected,” she began.
“I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready,” Wendy, who was caught exiting her Manhattan apartment in a wheelchair recently, continued. “I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there.”
Wendy added, “I also want to thank Debmar-Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back.” The daytime diva then thanked her fans as saying, “Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and feel all the love!”
“You are everything to me,” Wendy concluded her statement. “I love spending my mornings with you all and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now Wendy has to focus on Wendy. I love you for watching.”
