What is The Masked Singer, can I audition and is there a prize for winning the ITV show?

ITV's newest show The Masked Singer is set to hit our screens tonight and it is sure to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

For those who are still unsure of what it is all about, read on to find out more about this incredible new programme.

What is the masked singer?

The masked singer is a new concept completely hiding the singers from view and designed to make the judges guess who is behind the mask.

Hosted by Joel Dommett, the panel for "TV's greatest guessing game" is composed of Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Ken Jeong, and it sees 12 celebrities attempt to be crowned the winner.

The catch? They remain masked until they are voted out meaning the hosts and the public are judging simply on their stage performance – not necessarily their singing.

Until they are unmasked, each celebrity will play a character and they all have their own names.

ITV has also revealed the first look at eight characters, and they are called Unicorn, Fox, Monster, Chameleon, Daisy, Octopus, Duck and Queen Bee.

Can I audition for The Masked Singer?

Unfortunately there are no auditions for The Masked Singer as it is only open to celebrities.

The show has been successful in America, with 9.2million people watching the very first episode of the show.

The finale episode garnered 11.5million views and it will be interesting to see if the UK version can just as successful if not better.
