What's the difference between the Baftas and the Oscars?

The British Academy Film Awards is an annual awards show hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) to celebrate the best British and global film contributions.

The awards ceremony has been held at the Royal Albert Hall since 2017, with BAFTA recognising outstanding achievements in 25 film-related categories, including Best Film, Best Direction and Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role.

The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are regarded as the most prestigious awards in the film industry and the ceremony takes place every year in Hollywood.

Cinematic achievements are judged and voted on by the Academy's membership, with winners presented with a gold 'Academy Award of Merit' trophy as the prize.
