Who left The Great British Bake Off in Biscuit Week and who was Star Baker?

The Bake Off tent is looking a little emptier after losing its second contestant following the series’ annual Biscuit Week.

With Dan Chambers having hung up his apron in last week’s season opener, Tuesday night’s show saw the 12 remaining bakers tackling chocolate covered biscuits and fig rolls before attempting a biscuit masterpiece for their showstopper.

All this and a ‘big organ’ innuendo to remind us that it’s business as usual on Bake Off.

But whose time in the tent was brought to a premature end? And who emerged triumphant as the Biscuit star baker?

Here’s what you need to know…

Who left The Great British Bake Off in Biscuit Week?

Having narrowly dodged elimination in week one, sadly we bid farewell to Jamie Finn – one of 2019’s youngest contestants – this week.

The 20-year-old had already become a fan favourite, after winning over viewers with his positive outlook and upbeat persona even as things were going wrong around him.

However he struggled with his chocolate in the signature bake – with fellow baker Michelle jumping in to try and help – and finished 11th in the fig roll technical – while his guitar-shaped showstopper failed to strike a chord.

Jamie said afterwards: ‘I think it’s sort of mixed emotions, like obviously I’m a little bit gutted. But I’m also proud of myself for what I’ve done.

‘It’s just a great experience, that’s why I don’t want it to end,’ he continued. ‘I’m mainly just going to miss everyone.

Who was Star Baker?

As Jamie bid an early farewell to the tent, there was good news for teacher Alice Fevronia, who nabbed the second Star Baker accolade of the series.

Alice’s chocolate and honeycomb concoctions wowed Paul and Prue in the signature, while she also came first in this week’s technical challenge.

However it was her showstopper – featuring a seriously cute macaroon-themed sheep – which sealed the deal for her.

When is The Great British Bake Off on?

The series continues with Bread Week next Tuesday night on Channel 4 at 8pm.
